(ABOVE) I have two of these classic white cotton poplin, button-up shirts so that I always have one at the ready in case the other is in the wash.

REDISCOVERING TIMELESS PIECES IN OUR WARDROBE
Black Faux-Leather Skirt With A White Button-Up Blouse
I pair basic black and white separates together often, because the look is pleasingly crisp and clean and easy to put together. This White Cotton Poplin Shirt is worn so much that I have two. That way, one is always ready in case the other is in the wash.
As to the various ways you can style it? Wear it with velvet pants or a midi or maxi taffetta skirt and black high-heel sandals for a dressy look. Wear it with black wool or seasonless trousers and pointed-toe flats–or with a black skirt and kitten-heel pumps (as I’m showing here)–for a refined-casual or office-appropriate look. Or, wear it with dark-wash or black jeans and black loafers for a casual look that is sleek.
This black faux-leather skirt is a new favorite in my wardrobe. I love that it is a simple, black, A-line silhouette but, also, is just a little bit more interesting because of the glossy-leather appearance. It makes the already winning combination of black and white even more intriguing. For several options, see these Black Faux Leather Skirts.
I could have carried a black handbag with this outfit–and often do when wearing black and white–however, I decided to bring in a touch of brown with this Celine Small Boston Bag in Triomphe Canvas. I think the brown-leather accents make the outfit feel a bit more casual, while still maintaining its refined character.
If you already have a white shirt, but always thought pairing it with a black skirt was only for an office setting–leather, faux-leather, or not–then you might reconsider. It’s perfect for lunch with a girlfriend (which was where I wore the outfit in this post) or a refined-casual date with your hubby or significant other.
Thank you for visiting my blog and wishing you a happy, peaceful week.

What I Wore
(ABOVE & BELOW) I have had this Talbots Perfect Shirt for six years and wear it frequently–with both skirts and refined trousers, but also with jeans. It’s so versatile. For links to the rest of what I am wearing, either the exact item or similar, see below.

(ABOVE) This Small Boston Bag in Triomphe Canvas is a recent purchase from Celine. Oh my goodness, I did not realize how much I would love and use this handbag. It has quickly become one of my favorite everyday bags. I use it to run errands. I use it for a refined-casual lunch out with a friend (like in this post). I toss it on when I run over to visit my mother. Basically, whenever I want to wear black or brown shoes or sandals, this is the handbag I have been choosing. Why? Because it is crossbody, is light-weight and therefore effortless to wear, and carries so much more than I knew. It is 20 centimeters in width, so it is similar to the Louis Vuitton Speedy 20, which I also have and love (in black empriente leather). We do not have a Celine store locally, so I purchased it at their site on line, along with a matching Card Holder; Key, Coin, and Card Pouch; and Purse Comb and Pouch, which is actually a mustache comb, but I use it for my hair. I love the miniature size, because it fits my small and mini handbags. 🙂 I also purchased this Felt Bag Organizer Insert.
Felt Bag Organizer Insert (fits Celine Small Boston Bag and Louis Vuitton Speedy 20)
Celine Mini Purse Comb and Pouch in Triomphe Canvas (a mustache comb, but perfect purse-size for my hair!)
3-Gram Plastic Cosmetic Jars, for storing creams, jellies, balms in purse
My Earrings, Makeup & Miscellaneous
(ABOVE & BELOW) Gingiberi 18k Gold and Diamond Earrings (discount code for 15% off site-wide at Gingiberi: Janis15). Gingiberi gifted these earrings to me after I mentioned how much I loved the look of them on their website. I have been wearing them constantly–with casual outfits, like jeans and an oxford-cloth shirt, and also for dressy outfits as well. They are such a perfect size and the rope detailing is lovely. For the makeup products I’m wearing in this post (and the cosmetic brushes I used to apply my makeup), see below.
RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek, Beloved, on my lips, cheeks, forehead
Gold Dual-Ended Retractable Lip Brush, for lining and filling-in lips with lip color
Makeup Brushes/Sponge/Case, to apply my face, eye, and cheek makeup
Set of Four Portable Eyelash Combs, Pink, to comb out mascara
Vaseline Triple Purified, 100% Pure Petroleum Jelly, applied to cheeks and cheekbones as highlighter (Amazon, Target)
4-oz Glass Leak-Proof Bottle (for my salad dressing I carry with me)
Nylon Zip Cosmetic Case (for my salad dressing bottle, above)
Canvas Shopping Bag (for my salad dressing pouch, umbrella, rain shoes, etc.)
(ABOVE & BELOW) I’ve had these Kate Spade Sunglasses for about 10 years–in both prescription sunglasses and regular prescription glasses. They are so timeless (and popular) that Kate Spade brings them back every year. On my right hand, I am wearing a 14k Gold Pave Diamond Ring on my pointer finger. On my third finger is the Boucheron Quatre Large, 18K Gold and Diamond Ring, given to me by my hubby (as an eternity band ring and a get well stay well ring). If you are interested in seeing preloved Boucheron rings similar to mine, visit Fashionphile.
