SIMPLE ANKLE-PANTS OUTFIT
Gingham Ankle Pants, Ruffle-Neck Top, Bright Pink Crossbody Bag
I touched on the outfit-formula concept in my last post and I am bringing it up again today, because this is another simple outfit plan that I choose when I want to be comfortable and casual but still refined enough to feel polished and put together: a pretty blouse with ankle pants and ballet flats. I wore it to go to lunch with a girlfriend on a very hot and humid day. It was perfect.
This particular pair of Pants (which is now on sale) is in a timeless, black-and-white gingham print and a pencil-leg, side-zip style. I love this style of pants, because the flat front and slim-but-not-tight fit is so flattering. These are a mixture of 97% cotton and 3% spandex, so they have a slight stretch to them for added comfort and ease of movement.
As for this Ruffle-Neck Blouse (which also is on sale; therefore, availability is dwindling), it is winter-white and has ruffled half sleeves that make the blouse look so pretty and feminine. It’s perfect for a dressy occasion, for the office, for date night, for lunch with friends as I show it here, or even with jeans and sandals. It’s perfect for hot summer days, but because of the seasonless material it also can be worn straight through the fall, too.
I have paired this outfit with a pair of Black Stretch-Knit Ballet Flats that I recently bought. I was looking for something cute and comfortable that I could wear year-round here in Florida for running errands. These flats were exactly what I wanted. They come with two pairs of inner soles and both the shoes and inner sales can be machine washed. Although they have some padding, they do not have arch support, so if that is an issue they may not be for you. I love them with refined pants, jeans, linen tie-waist pants, short skirts, and skorts.
For photographs of all of these items, simply scroll down the page.
Thank you so much for visiting my blog, and I will write again soon.

Note: I am 5’8” tall; size XS or 0-2 in most tops (PP at Talbots, XXS at Ann Taylor, J.Crew); size 2 or S in most pants, and size 26 in most jeans; size 9.5-10 in most shoes.
What I Wore
Ruffle-Neck Blouse (now on sale, so sizes are becoming limited)
Gingham Pants (now on sale; 97% cotton and 3% spandex)
Black Stretch-Knit Ballet Flats
(ABOVE & BELOW) Classic Black Sunglasses (narrow, medium, wide widths available). Also in Tortoise or Pink. These are such comfortable sunglasses, because I was able to choose the frame width I preferred (narrow).
(ABOVE & BELOW) The bracelets were gifts from my husband. Pictured left to right: David Yurman, Lagos, Roberto Coin, Lagos. The diamond and blue sapphire ring is an heirloom from my mother. On my other hand (not shown) I’m wearing my Boucheron Quatre Large, 18K Gold and Diamond Eternity Band Ring, a get-well/stay-well gift from my husband two years ago (preloved here).
David Yurman 18K Gold, Blue Topaz, and Diamonds Bangle
Roberto Coin 18K Gold and Diamonds Bangle
Lagos Black Caviar 18K Gold Bead and Ceramic Bead Bracelet
Boucheron Quatre Large, 18k gold, diamonds (preloved here)
My Handbag and What’s Inside
(ABOVE & BELOW) I bought the Salvatore Ferragamo Gancini Mini Bag last fall, because it’s so versatile. The strap is removable, allowing it to be used as a clutch, shoulder bag, or crossbody bag. Currently, it is available in peach, black, or green. At some sites, it is on sale (see below). For another outfit showing this handbag, see my October ’22 Blog Post.
Peach Ferragamo Bag (Baltini, Farfetch, and Nordstrom on sale)
Black Ferragamo Bag (Farfetch on sale; Ferragamo)
Green Ferragamo Bag (Farfetch on sale)
Dolce & Gabbana Leather Sicily Bag (Patent Leather on sale; Pebbled Leather Farfetch, 15% off new subscribers)
Dolce & Gabbana Woven-Leather Sicily Bag
(ABOVE) This slim Prada Saffiano Leather Card Holder comes in several different colors. I like to use it in smaller handbags, because it takes up so little room.
(ABOVE & BELOW) To make my keys easier to locate and keep them from scratching/dirtying the inside of my bag–or other leather items inside my bag–I carried this Pink Faux-Snake Key Pouch (also Walmart).
(ABOVE) Because space is limited in this handbag, I chose to use my Blue-and-White Check Key Pouch for my Lipstick (Sheer Rose), Lip Brush, hand sanitizer, and other cosmetics. It takes up less room than cosmetic pouches. These BPA-Free Mini Cosmetic Jars come in a set of 25, and are $6.99. Choice of black, blue, pink, lavender, or clear lids.
(ABOVE & BELOW) I don’t know what I would do without this Retractable Dual-Ended Lip Brush. It has a fine, pointed brush for lining the lips and a flat, small brush for filling in lips. I keep one on my cosmetic table at home and one in the handbag I’m carrying that day–along with my Chanel Dual-Sided Mirror.
(ABOVE & BELOW) I bought this iPhone Clear Protective Case With Card Slot, because it can hold a credit card (here, I’m showing it with my business card). When I’m shopping at Whole Foods and need to scan the Prime Code on my phone, I also have my Prime credit card at the ready. It’s so handy!
My Makeup
(ABOVE) In the car, about 45 minutes after filming, just before meeting my friend for lunch. (BELOW) During filming that morning. On my lips: Gabriel Lipstick, Sheer Rose (orange pink/cool creme).
Mineral Fusion Powder Foundation, Warm 3 (Amazon, Walmart)
Gabriel Powder Blush, Willow
Gabriel Lipstick, Sheer Rose (orange pink/cool creme)
Gold Dual-Ended Retractable Lip Brush, for lining and filling-in lips with lip color
Honest Beauty Get It Together Eyeshadow Palette, Matte Plum shade wetted, used as liner above and under lashes (Ulta, Target)
Sigma E21 Smudge Brush, to smudge liner on lid and under lower eyelashes (Neiman Marcus)
RMS Beauty Un-Powder Powder, for setting eyeliner (Nordstrom, Amazon)
Honest Beauty Extreme Length Mascara + Lash Primer in One (Ulta, Amazon, Target)
Set of Four Portable Eyelash Combs, Pink, to comb out mascara
Vaseline Triple Purified, 100% Pure Petroleum Jelly, applied to cheeks and cheekbones as highlighter (Amazon, Target)
Nourish Organic Shea Butter, I rotate this with petroleum jelly (Amazon)
1-Ounce Glass Jars (Set of 6), for storing Petroleum Jelly, Shea Butter, Etc. (Amazon)
(ABOVE & BELOW) This Pink Makeup Brush Set & Case comes with 12 synthetic, soft face, eye, and lip brushes, a makeup sponge, and this beautiful faux-leather case. It’s such a wonderful value for under $25. I have been using the set to do my makeup for the past five months, because the brushes are so soft; they don’t irritate my sensitive skin.

Cynthia, thank you so much for visiting my blog again and for leaving your sweet comment. I hope you are well and that your summer is a happy, peaceful one so far. 🙂
Hello Janis,
So great to see you! How are you feeling? You look fabulous! How are you and hubby doing in this heat wave? Boston has been so hot and humid. The sun has been in and out for days. We have had terrible rain storms. We are so lucky compared to other states that have experienced total devastation. I love your outfit! The black and white check slacks look great. I especially like it with the gorgeous red bag! You really know how to put outfits together. I love all of them! Please take good care and stay safe. Until next time; love and light, Sarah❤☀🙋.
Hello, Sarah! Thank you so much for leaving your sweet comment on my gingham pants outfit post. I hope by now, the rain has let up a bit in Boston. Actually, we could still use it here. My hubby and I have been doing well, but we certainly need more rain in Southwest Florida. This is usually our rainy season, but not much rain this summer so far. Of course, I am grateful we have not had the devastating rain and floods as some of the states north of us have experienced…. This time of year, Naples is much more quiet than in season, since so many of the part-time residents are in their other homes up north or out of the country. It is a lovely time to be here for that reason. Of course, I enjoy high season here, too, because of all the activity and people watching is much fun. I’m grateful to have both. Hope you and your hubby are doing well.
A bright pop of colour with a monochrome outfit brings the whole look alive .
You have great legs for the ‘ Audrey Hepburn ‘ look and black ballet flats
are a must. .You look great .Last post you had the Grace Kelly look.
What an era for beautiful feminine. fashion.

Pamela, thank you so much for your kind comment you left in my black gingham pants outfit post. To be mentioned in the same paragraph as Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly is so humbling and appreciated. I do agree that their era, when it came to women’s fashion (and men’s fashion, too), was so elegant and inspiring to this day. 🌸🌸🌸 I hope you and your family are doing well and having a peaceful happy summer. 🙂
Hi Janis!
Hope you are staying cool in FL.. every day on the NY news they say how HOT it is down there.
LOVE the gingham pants.. I actually have the same pattern/material in a skirt from Talbots that I just bought this season.
I wear it with their bateau neck cotton tee shirts in white and in navy.
It’s a great look!
Have a wonderful day!
Claudia
Hello, Claudia! It was so wonderful to see your Comment on my gingham pants outfit post. Thank you. ☺️ Oh, I bet your gingham skirt is so cute. I love Talbots. Their bateau-neck teas are fabulous. It is definitely hot down here. Thank goodness for air conditioning! Ours went out during the spring, and during the week when it was particularly cool, so we were very lucky to have it fixed and up and running again before the truly hot weather began. Hope the summer is going well for you and your family so far and that you are having nice weather in New York. 🙂
