A NEW SHIRTDRESS; AND MY RECENT HAIRSTYLE
Plum Shirtdress in Cotton Poplin
If I could have just one dress for day, it would be a solid-color, midi-length, cotton-poplin shirtdress. It is comfortable and feminine, and it can be worn all year, depending on the accessories you choose and how many layers you add. This particular Shirtdress happens to be new, and it is now on sale, so if you are interested, you might want to snap it up because size selections are dwindling. Scroll down the page and you will see several other shirtdresses that are in a variety of price categories and are also pretty. This one does not come with a belt, so I added my own. I think it makes the dress look more finished. Something interesting is, instead of buttons this dress has silver snaps. I thought that provided the perfect opportunity to wear my white-gold and sterling-silver jewelry.
About My Hair Style
Now, about my hair the day I filmed my video and captured these images: Oh my goodness, it was a bit of a fiasco. First of all, I almost always wash my hair with just water (no shampoo) the day before the day I plan to curl it. I then let it air dry; and, once it is dry, I apply a small amount of Organic Argal Oil lightly through my hair. Emphasis on a “small amount.” The next day is when I curl it.
Unfortunately, this time I applied a lot of oil to my hair the day before; plus, instead of shampooing it out, I rinsed it out with just water. Because it was still coated with so much oil (some sections worse than others) my hair did not curl as well or last as well. Making matters worse, I also walked several blocks to and from the restaurant in windy, humid weather.
That being said, I thought the hair-styling products did a fairly good job considering everything I did to prevent them from working. My hot rollers are about 15-20 years old, but these Hot Rollers are similar. This Hair Styling Mousse is what I applied to my hair just before rolling it up. It does have a scent, and even though I am quite sensitive to any scents near my face I thought this one was pleasant. I like it very much. Before this day, I have been using this Hair Styling Gel to help keep and set curls in my hair. It works very well and is unscented. For complete how-to details on curling my hair, scroll down the page to the How I Style My Hair section. Both the mousse and gel I have used are considered green/clean-beauty products and rate well/low in toxicity/low in allergies at Environmental Working Group. Also, neither cause me itchiness, headaches, burning eyes, or a rash. For more details and links, scroll down the page.
Thank you so much for visiting my blog and wishing you a happy, peaceful week.

What I Wore
(ABOVE & BELOW) This cotton-poplin Shirtdress is new, and it is now on sale, so if you are interested, you might want to consider it. Scroll down the page and you will see several other shirtdresses that I also think are pretty.
(ABOVE) Tory Burch Plum Cotton-Poplin Shirtdress, 14K White Gold Drop Earrings, Longchamp Black XS Leather Bag, Stuart Weitzman Pointy-Toe Flats, Black Leather Skinny Belt, Black Sunglasses. For more shirtdresses, see below, and visit here.
(ABOVE & BELOW) I wear this Black Headband (as well as one in Tortoise) often. These Jet Black Sunglasses also come in Butterscotch Tortoise (see both on bottom row of photograph below). What I like about shopping on this eyewear site is that I have a choice of frame color, lens color, and also width–narrow, medium, or wide. (I chose narrow.) You can see me wearing these sunglasses with another outfit here, and the Butterscotch Tortoise Sunglasses here.

(ABOVE) I’ve had these Tory Burch Pointy-Toe Flats for 10 or 15 years and love them. As you can see, they are padded and have held up quite well. I love a shoe with a slight pointy toe (not too elongated), because it makes the foot look more dainty and feminine (which is so nice if you have large feet, like me!).

(ABOVE & BELOW) I’ve had these bracelets for quite a few years. The Judith Ripka JRTwo bangle is the oldest (on the right). I think it dates back to 2010 or earlier. I found the exact bracelet, preloved, here, if you are interested in getting it. Although you can’t see it in this photograph, my Michele watch was a birthday gift from my husband about seven years ago. I remember when we picked it up at Nordstrom. I still feel a pang of sadness, because that Nordstrom store closed during the pandemic. For links to the rest of the jewelry shown here, see below.

My Handbag
(ABOVE) I purchased this Longchamp XS Le Pliage Leather Bag two years ago at Saks Fifth Avenue (similar at Longchamp, Saks, or Bloomingdale’s). This size and color work well for running errands, because I can wear it crossbody and it goes with so many outfits and shoes. There is also the Longchamp Create Your Own Bag on line. Here, you can design something very similar to mine, but in nylon with leather handles and strap, making it less expensive and even lighter in weight.

Celine Zipped Card Holder in Triomphe Canvas
Celine Key, Coin, and Card Pouch in Triomphe Canvas
Celine Mini Purse Comb and Pouch in Triomphe Canvas (a mustache comb, but perfect purse-size for my hair!)
3-Gram Plastic Cosmetic Jars, for storing creams, jellies, balms in purse
Chanel Dual-Sided Mirror with Pouch (pouch not shown in this photo)
Retractable Dual-Ended Lip Brush
10 ML Glass Hand Sanitizer/Perfume Spray Bottle (I put hand sanitizer in one of these bottles for my purse)
(ABOVE) I know my Celine Mini Purse Comb and Pouch in Triomphe Canvas is actually a mustache comb, but I think it’s the perfect purse size for my hair. 🙂
How I Style My Hair
(ABOVE) Regarding how I curl my hair: Unfortunately, I applied too much Organic Argal Oil in my hair the night before; plus, instead of shampooing my hair, I rinsed it with just water. For that reason, my hair did not curl or hold as well as usual. Adding to the assault on my curls, I also walked several blocks to and from the restaurant in windy, humid weather. Nevertheless, my very fine and difficult-to-curl hair still managed to have some curl, no thanks to me. I can only give credit to the combination of Hot Rollers (mine are about 15-20 years old) and this Hair Styling Mousse. This mousse worked well, considering how much oil was still in my hair. It does have a scent, and even though I am quite sensitive to any scents near my face I thought this one was pleasant. I like it very much. Before this day, I have been using this Hair Styling Gel to help keep and set curls in my hair. It works very well and is unscented.
MY HAIR-CURLING ROUTINE: The day/evening before, I apply a very small amount of organic argan oil into my freshly washed and air-dried hair. Then, just before putting the hot rollers in my hair I apply either the mousse or the gel to my dry hair and comb it through. Next, I take a section of my hair, lightly dampen the lower half of it with with water, then roll up that section. I repeat until all my hair is in the rollers (I use most of the rollers). I then leave the rollers in my hair for at least one hour before removing them. (Note: I currently do not use any hairspray. However, I am searching for a green/clean-beauty hairspray to test and will keep you posted.) Both the mousse and gel I have used are considered green/clean-beauty products and rate well/low in toxicity/low in allergies at Environmental Working Group. Also, neither cause me itchiness, headaches, burning eyes, or a rash.

The plum dress looks spectacular on you. That will be a great fall/winter dress for Florida. Your hair tuned out beautiful. I have been wearing a bob lately that I wear curled and straight, but I am feeling the need to grow it out a bit. You provided the inspiration.
