LUNCH AT RIDGWAY BAR & GRILL; A DRESSY TROUSERS OOTD REPEAT
Returning To Third Street South After Hurricane Ian
It’s been five months since Hurricane Ian swept through Southwest Florida, and yet as I walked through the Third Street South shopping and dining area recently, the after effects still were noticeable. Some shops and restaurants remained shuttered. Plantings that normally were lush and green were brown or totally leafless. Windows that just six months ago wore peach or pink or some other pretty pastel scalloped awning now looked naked with just bare metal awning understructures.
At Ridgway Bar and Grill, however–about two blocks from the beach–you would never know that there was a hurricane–or two feet of salt water, mud, and disgusting sundry flotsam occupying the place just a few months ago.
My friend CSG* and I met there for lunch, and our server told us the restaurant had been closed for only about six weeks before reopening. It was a major feat and testament to the can-do/pull yourself up by the bootstraps/don’t complain attitude of so many people I’m honored to say live here. It truly has been inspiring to witness.
Ridgway Bar and Grill chef and co-owner Tony Ridgway offers a varied selection of dishes reflecting classic American cuisine mixed with French culinary traditions, honed over a 51-year career. Back in the mid-80s, my husband and I spent many date nights dining and getting to know each other at Tony’s popular eatery that was here then (called Truffles and located upstairs). That establishment is gone, but we consider Ridgway a favorite spot.
My favorite place to sit is either on the screened-in porch overlooking the west lush, green courtyard, or on the north sidewalk patio that looks out to 13th Avenue South. When the temperature is in the 70s or lower 80s degree Fahrenheit, as it was on this day, both are lovely spots to people watch and dine.
My friend ordered a yummy looking grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup and I had a perfectly grilled beef patty with a side of mixed greens, which I made into an allergen-free salad with my homemade salad dressing. (2 tablespoons organic extra virgin olive oil, 1 tablespoon organic apple cider vinegar, Himalayan salt to taste.) Although I can’t partake of very many dishes due to my allergies, I highly recommend the restaurant. (My hubby and I especially love dining there during the Christmas holidays, because it’s so festive.) Something I appreciate is that they prioritize preparing as much by hand and from scratch as possible. Oh, and by the way, their delicious looking breads and desserts are fresh-baked daily at Tony’s Off Third bakery, adjacent to the restaurant.
The Dressy Trousers Outfit Uniform
The outfit I wore is a uniform I often choose for more formal days or date nights with my husband–heels with dressy trousers and a dressy top. It’s the same combination I employed in my last post, where I topped it with a cardigan. As I have often said, I love trousers with heels–even kitten heels–because they are elegant and elongating to the legs. If you are interested in anything I’m wearing here, I’ve listed everything at the bottom of this post and included links.
Thank you so much for visiting my blog.

What I Wore
(ABOVE & BELOW) I ordered these sunglasses from Warby Parker (Butler in Butterscotch Tortoise, narrow width). What I like about Warby Parker is that I am able to try on five pairs, before buying anything–the company pays for shipping to and from my home. Also, what’s wonderful is that they offer a variety of styles in narrow, medium and wide widths. I bought the pair you see here and also Durand in Rose Water, narrow width. For details about my jewelry, scroll down the page.
(ABOVE) I used this Black Nylon Cosmetic Pouch (more colors available) for my salad dressing. It comes in several different colors, including pastel pink. (I also have it in navy and aqua.)
(ABOVE) I bought this medium Christian Dior Lady Dior preloved at Fashionphile, a partner of Neiman Marcus. I’ve had it for 14 months and love it! It was in excellent, brand-new looking condition and I saved several thousand dollars by buying it preloved. I new I would enjoy this bag because I have the latte color medium Lady Dior that I bought at Saks Fifth Avenue four years ago and adore it. However, because it’s lambskin, I don’t use it as much as I would like. This one I’m less concerned about because it’s patent calfskin leather.
(ABOVE) This Leather Zip Tassel Pouch is in the black color; I also have it in blush pink. It’s available in this small size and a larger size, but I prefer the small, because it fits in so many of my handbags. It’s perfect for corralling small items like lipsticks, a lip brush, mirror, tissue, etc. You also can have it monogrammed with your initials, like you see here.
(ABOVE) I recently began wearing store-bought perfume again (I used to make it myself with coconut oil and patchouli). This was the lovely floral scent I chose: Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum. What I’m holding here is the Intense Mini Twist Spray from the Chanel kit that comes with three vials and this purse-size container ( 3 x .2 FL OZ). It’s also available in a 3 x .7 FL OZ kit.
(ABOVE) Gold Dual-Ended Retractable Lip Brush and Honest Beauty Creme Cheek + Lip Color, Plum Berry (at Ulta, Amazon, Target). I wore this on my cheeks and lips. It’s moisturizing on it’s own, but to make it look a bit more glossy on my lips I added Lawless Forget The Filler Lip Plumper Line-Smoothing Gloss in Rosy Outlook (Sephora). I also dabbed a tiny bit of Triple Purified, 100% Pure Petroleum Jelly onto cheeks and cheekbones as highlighter (Amazon, Target). All of the makeup I’m wearing is rated as “clean.”
Sigma F80 Air Flat Kabuki Brush, for applying/stippling cheek color sparingly onto cheeks and cheekbones
