(ABOVE) I love the darker, rich jewel tones of fall and winter, especially the burgundy tones. This season, it’s plum, which has a bit more purple in it.

MY OOTD AND ABOUT MY CHANEL CHEVRON CHIC BAG
This Year’s Burgundy
Now that we are officially in fall, I am enjoying wearing all the darker, deeper colors. Two favorites are slate grey and burgundy, and I especially love them together. This year’s burgundy has more purple than red in it, and it’s called plum. If you don’t already have items in this color, you might consider adding it to your wardrobe. I think it’s very regal and elegant.
The Chanel Chevron Chic Flap Bag
My handbag is the Chanel Chevron Chic Flap Bag in the small size. I bought it at our local Chanel in Saks Fifth Avenue in 2018. I think that was the first year it came out, and then it was brought back in 2019. After that, I didn’t see it again, so I’m glad I got it when I did. It’s similar to the Chanel Coco Handle that came out in 2017; both are a trapezoid shape and have a flap much like the Chanel Classic Flap Bag. Unlike the Classic Flap, both also have a top handle. However, the Chevron Chic has chevron-quilted grained leather, rather than a diamond-quilted caviar leather, and it’s also a slimmer silhouette than the Coco Handle, which has much puffier quilting.
What really convinced me to purchase the Chevron Chic bag, in the end, was the adjustable, detachable shoulder strap. At the time, I don’t believe the Coco Handle had a removable shoulder strap, let alone one that was adjustable; nor did (or does) the Classic Flap. Plus, neither the Coco Handle nor Classic Flap straps were long enough to be worn crossbody. I wanted to be able to wear my bag crossbody–and the Chevron Chic bag offered me that; and, I also liked the generous amount of gold hardware on the Chevron Chic bag.
Later, Chanel introduced the smaller Coco Handle, which they called the Extra Mini, and it included a longer, detachable shoulder strap. I fell in love with that bag and later did purchase it. (as well as the Classic Flap). You can see me carrying the Coco Handle in my last post. Today, Chanel calls this the Mini Coco Handle, and the next size up is called a Small Coco Handle. Why they changed the names of the bags baffles me, but it seems to be common practice at several luxury brands (including Prada).

What I Wore
(ABOVE) These Talbots Side-Zip Trousers are so comfortable, and I love this color of slate grey. I’m wearing a size 4 in misses, but they also are available in petites. Ann Taylor also has some pretty and very similar Grey Size-Zip Trousers. I almost bought them but then stopped myself, because they were so similar to the Talbots trousers you see here.

(ABOVE) I bought this AAA-Quality White Freshwater Pearl Necklace from The Pearl Source. I think the 16-inch length in the 9-10 mm size is perfect for everyday wear. I also have my eye on this 11-12mm, AAA -Quality White Freshwater Pearl Necklace. So pretty! My husband purchased this Small Cartier Tank Watch in 2018 at Cartier-certified seller Tourneau in Waterside Shops, for my 58th birthday present. My watch was new, however Tourneau also offers preloved Cartier watches, and the Cartier Tank is a timeless classic that has been popular since it first was introduced in 1919.

(ABOVE & BELOW) I have these sunglasses in Jet Black and also in Butterscotch Tortoise (see both on bottom row of photograph below). What I like about shopping on this site is that I have a choice of frame color, lens color, and also width–narrow, medium, or wide. (I chose narrow.) You can see me wearing the Butterscotch Tortoise Sunglasses here.

Inside My Handbag
(ABOVE) The Chanel Chevron Chic Bag, size small, purchased April 9, 2018, at the Chanel boutique in Saks Fifth Avenue, Naples, Florida. This was the first Chanel bag I bought brand-new. (I purchased my first Chanel bag pre-loved, in 2009, and I still have and love that Barbie-pink, caviar-leather shoulder bag today. See it here.) For preloved Chanel chevron-leather bags, visit Fashionphile. For additional choices, see these similar more affordable Top-Handle Bags.

(ABOVE) In today’s post, I’m wearing Christian Dior’s Miss Dior perfume (Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue). This particular spray bottle came in a gift set in February 2023. Dior’s Miss Dior and Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle (Saks Fifth Avenue) are the fragrances I currently wear. If you like perfumes that have a feminine floral scent, you might consider either one. I love them both.

Hi Janis, you are so beautiful and your hands! Wow how do you care for them? As I grow older( yeah) I have many more severe reactions to new products. Have you been lucky using pure lines? My eyes! I don’t wear mascara any more and I look a bit pale. You are organized! I sadly am not I am getting rid of clothes as I watch you. I love your style. Last time when you had your hair down wow I told you you look like a movie star and reds and plums look great against your skin! Thank you for all the tips! Merry Christmas!
Hi, Christy! I think a major factor in keeping my hands and nails looking decent is that I wear gloves when I do any cleaning. I wash dishes three times a day and always wear gloves to protect my hands and nails from the water. Regarding the pure lines I’ve used: I, too, developed allergies/intolerances during the last several years and have had to look for alternatives. I’m still looking, as a matter of fact. I’m not satisfied with what I’ve tried so far. So right now I’m using several different skin products. As for makeup, I’m still using the same makeup lines I’ve talked about in the past. Most are powder based (except for lipsticks and a few lip and cheek tints and of course mascara). I find I have much better luck with powder makeup–I don’t have allergic reactions. Liquid and cream makeup causes irritation or rashes. Have you tried the Pacifica Mascara, the one that isn’t waterproof? I have wonderful results with it and the Honest Beauty Mascara, and no reactions. Thank you for your kind compliments. Wishing you and your loved ones a very merry, safe Christmas. 🙂
Hi Janis!
I just LOVE your jingly jangly mid century charm bracelet. Such a treasure.. even more of a treasure as it makes you think of your Dad and his work travels. What a sweet idea that he brought back charms for his mom.. so thoughtful.
I have 3 vintage charms bracelets as well that I bought about 20 years ago and filled with vintage charms that had meaning for me. It was such a fun “treasure hunt.” A lot of them I actually bought in Florida because there is an abundance of estate jewelry there. Lots on Ebay too.
You have inspired me to start wearing the bracelets again.. thanks!
Happy Holidays!
Claudia, I’m so happy you have been inspired to wear your charm bracelets again. That is wonderful! Wishing you happy and safe holidays, too! 🙂
