Shifting Out Of My Negative Thinking

Hello, everyone, and happy New Year 2024!  Before I talk about this particular outfit, I will say that watching the news these days can make me worrisome about 2024. Sometimes, my belief in God can take a back seat to the earthly dangers that feel overwhelming. At times like this, I focus on the positives and what I can control in my life. For example, I remind myself how lucky I am to have a loving husband, family, and close friends, and a roof over my head in a town I feel truly grateful to be in. I also remind myself to continue to focus on getting and staying healthy, and to have fun with the hobbies I enjoy, like my blog and YouTube channel, and styling timeless outfits, and experimenting with clean cosmetics. I hope to also find time to get back to watercolor journaling, which I also love and enjoy and am still learning how to do.

I hope all of you are feeling less worried than I, but if you are not, I promise you that shifting your thinking to the positives in your life can do wonders for your frame of mind.

You Can Never Go Wrong With An All-Ivory Outfit

I cannot tell you when I became such a fan of ivory monotone outfits. It’s probably decades ago, and I repeat the combination often. I have ivory or off-white blouses, t-shirts, trousers, jeans, shorts, skirts, shoes, belts, bags, sweaters, jackets, coats, vests, and shawls. The only other color of which I own so many pieces is black–and the two look gorgeous together as well.

This “date night with my husband” outfit is in several different shades of ivory. I could have chosen higher heel pumps, but opted for these kitten heels, because I knew we might be walking some distance from wherever we could find parking for dinner at  Ridgway Bar & Grill, in the Third Street South shopping district.

It has been six years since my husband and I dined downtown at Christmas time, and it was just as busy this time as it was the last. To see my outfit from that dinner–not surprisingly, it also was all ivory–see my December  24, 2017 post here.

Gingiberi gifted these earrings to me after I mentioned how much I loved the look of them on their website. I have been wearing them  constantly–with casual outfits, like jeans and an oxford-cloth shirt, and also for dressier outfits as well. They are such a perfect size and the rope detailing is lovely. Also shown: The 14k gold necklace is several decades old and was my mother’s. My husband gave me the David Yurman 14mm Chatelaine 18k Gold and Pave Diamond Ring two years ago.

 

My Handbag

(ABOVE & BELOW) I purchased this Christian Dior Rose Gold Mini Lady Dior at our Saks Fifth Avenue at Waterside Shops in September 2020. At that time, we did not yet have a Christian Dior boutique in our Saks, so the Saks Christian Dior representatives from Bal Harbour brought over a selection of handbags for a trunk show. I was looking specifically for a dressy yellow-gold metallic bag, and although the hardware on this one is rose gold I instantly fell in love with it. My one complaint about all Lady Dior bags, however, is that the “D” charm has a tendency to flip upside down, as you can see above; therefore, I need to remember to check it occasionally so I can flip it upright again. Otherwise, I have no complaints about the Lady Dior. I love it. For preloved versions of this bag, I recommend Fashionphile. That’s where I bought my second Mini Lady Dior (dark pink lambskin) and second Medium Lady Dior (beige patent calfskin). You can see me carrying the latter bag in this March 3, 2023 Blog Post.

(ABOVE & BELOW) Although this is technically a Celine Key Pouch, I sometimes prefer to use it in small handbags as a cosmetics catch-all. It’ is such a perfect size. Peeking up from the open zipper are my Hand Sanitizer Glass Spray Vial and Lawless Beauty Lip Gloss (but they easily can fit length-wise, too).

(ABOVE & BELOW) On my lips I’m wearing three lip products: ZuZu Luxe Lipstick, Sandstorm, soft topaz/cool crème (ZuZu Luxe, Amazon) and over it I applied ZuZu Luxe Uber, a clear/gold shimmer (ZuZu Luxe, Amazon). For a glossy shine I then added a swipe of Lawless Forget The Filler Lipgloss. For the rest of the cosmetics I’m wearing, see below. I apologize for the grainy texture of all my photogaphs taken while I was in the car. It was after 5:30 p.m., so it was much too dark for my iPhone Camera. I definitely needed additional lighting. I have since purchased this fabulous, iPhone Clip-On Ring Light.
