TIMLESS CELEBRATORY DRESSING FOR NOVEMBER & DECEMBER
What To Wear For Thanksgiving, Hanukah, or Christmas Events
About a month ago I received an email from a JLJBackToClassic follower who asked me to provide advice on what to wear for the upcoming holidays, whether celebrating at my home, someone else’s home, or a private club. I thought it was a wonderful idea for a blog post and video, because I had just seen some gorgeous festive and cozy items on line that I wanted to order.
Holiday Classics From Talbots, Ann Taylor, and LilySilk
Among the items I chose were two pull-over sweaters, a pair of silk trousers, and a silk blouse gifted to me by LilySilk. Longtime followers of my blog and YouTube channel know that I have been a fan of this company for several years. I favor their charmeuse-silk, silk-joe, and merino-wool and Mongolian-cashmere pieces in particular.
In this blog post and video I show eight outfits, featuring 13 clothing items–including four classics from my closet that are still available. You also will see items I purchased at Talbots and Ann Taylor; and all of the items from the three brands can be made to look casual and cozy, or also festive and quite dressy. It just depends upon how you style them with each other–and also with other clothing items, accessories, and jewelry.
About LilySilk Cashmere
According to LilySilk, they use only ethically/humanely sourced Mongolian cashmere. To give you a bit of background: Mongolian goats’ woolen coats become dense and warm during the winter, protecting them from the extreme cold. As spring approaches, their coats naturally begin shedding. The traditional (and ethical) way to collect the cashmere is by gently combing the loose fur from the goats. This process is time-consuming; it takes 3-5 goats to make one cashmere sweater. This is why many manufacturers don’t use this method, and shear the goats instead. You looked very elegant in all the outfits. It was a treat to see your hair down and more around your face – beautiful mix of silvers. Have you ever considered “curtain bangs?” I think they would look fabulous and add more attention to your hairstyle and color. You could still wear your hair back, but some pieces would make it less severe.

Janis, I love black and red tees also. My black tee shirts fade so fast. Do you have a brand that doesn’t fade fast or any tips to avoid the black tees from fading. These outfits are gorgeous and have me wanting the cable knit sweaters and red sweater set now.
Dear Lynne, the one I’m wearing I’ve had for quite a while. First, I try to wash my clothes as little as possible. I spot clean when possible. Only when they really need cleaning do I wash them. This top… I wash it and all my colors in cold water and on the gentle cycle. That seems to work best for me. Wishing you a happy holiday season! ~ Janis

Love your hair, so soft and smooth wishing mine will look better but right now im in the worst part of letting my grays show. I just went for a very nice cut. Still, my hairdresser told me dark brown hair takes a longer time to transit than lighter hair…so the cul was a great idea-also my hair with old age is getting some curls which I love…. getting back to you this is one of the best youtube I ever watch specifically for special occasions….
