Classic Pretty Dresses (and More)

It is not often that I find so many dresses that I love and want to wear constantly.  However, this summer a wonderful selection of classic styles is available–and in very wearable, not-too-long-or-short lengths.  I am so happy to be showing five in this blog post and video.

My issue with dresses is that most short styles are much too short on me.  So short, in fact, I look like I’m wearing a swimdress (I am 5’8″ with a long torso.)  The shorter dresses I feature in this post range from 37″ to 38.75″, while the two midi dresses range from 42.5″ to 45.5.

In this post and video, I also show an adorable tissue-box cover and pretty, new 18k and 14k pearl jewelry, slingback pumps, a sweater, sunglasses, and several scarves (see this Silk Equestrian-Print Scarf and Silk Horse-Print Scarf–gorgeous).  I love the look of a large square scarf worn over the shoulders like a shawl. It looks especially striking over a crisp, white, button-front shirt.

Timeless Glasses

As I mentioned, also in this post are a new pair of sunglasses.  The frame style is a browline, and these were originally created in 1947 by the company Shuron.  They called them the Ronsir.

In the 1980s, actor Bruce Willis made the Shuron Ronsir a preppy classic when he wore them in the 1985-1989 television series Moonlighting.  Then, in 1991, actor Kevin Costner cemented their popularity by wearing the Shuron Ronsir in the film JFK.

By 1986, Ray-Ban had picked up on their popularity and created their own version of the glasses. They called them the Ray-Ban Clubmaster Classic.  I love them with my casual, preppy outfits.

Decorative Tissue-Box Cover

(ABOVE & BELOW) I have tissues strategically placed throughout our home, and eventuallly I grew tired of looking at the various paper boxes housing them. They are not pretty! I finally decided to do something about it and searched for decorative covers for them. I am so happy that I did. This brand Marye-Kelley, at Amazon, is adorable! I love the Toile Tissue-Box Cover I’m showing here. It is made of sturdy papier mache and has sweet jungle tigers and monkeys all over it. It comes in pink, blue or black, and Marye-Kelley also offers many other patterns and prints, too.
