SILK-LINEN BLEND SEPARATES FOR SUMMER
Brunch With My Hubby
I wore this outfit recently for Sunday brunch with my husband, but I think it would work just as well for an office meeting or lunch with friends. The temperature that day was in the 90s Fahrenheit, with high humidity, so I wanted an outfit that would be cool and comfortable while we walked from our car to the restaurant, but also would provide coverage so I wouldn’t get cold indoors.
I had planned on carrying my Louis Vuitton Daily Pouch, since I had not used it in a while. (I love carrying a clutch for a completely different and streamlined look.)
When I received these front-pleated, Silk-Linen Trousers that I had picked out at LilySilk, I knew they would be perfect. The Sesame-leather trim on the Pouch is almost an exact match to the color of the trousers, which they call Oak. (I’d say the color is similar to a traditional British tan.) The Silk-Linen Shirt that I had also ordered was just what I had hoped. It is loose fitting, easy to pop over my head, very comfortable, but is crisp and refined.
You will notice that the online photograph of these trousers shows them with a crease down the front. However, I chose to iron the crease out. Doing this to pleated-front pants gives them a flowing, less structured, casual feeling. I really like how this particular pair of trousers look this way.
A note about the sizing of these trousers: I ordered my typical size 4, which gives me the looser fit I wanted in my hips and thighs (29.5″ inseam). However, I would say they are a bit large in the waist. Maybe I could have sized down to a 2. In the top, I ordered size Small, and it fits well.
Creating A Similar Look With What You Already Have
What I like about this combination is the colors. I often wear brown shoes, belts, and bags in the summer, but for some reason I don’t wear brown clothing, and I don’t know why. Adding these Oak-brown trousers to my closet brings a whole new color into my wardrobe for spring-summer, and I like the variety.
If you would like to create a similar outfit with items you already own, consider combining British tan chinos with a crisp, white button-down shirt, brown ballet flats or loafers, and a brown clutch like this Leather & Raffia Clutch/Shoulder Bag or this Leather Clutch/Shoulder Bag.
For more information about my Louis Vuitton Daily Pouch and what I think about it, six years later, I hope you will watch my YouTube video at the end of this post.

My Handbag & What Fits Inside
(ABOVE & BELOW) This Louis Vuitton Daily Pouch is a clutch made of Louis Vuitton monogram coated canvas with leather trim in the color Sesame. It measures 11.5”x8”x.2.5” and can be carried in the hand or tucked under the arm. I purchased it at Louis Vuitton in December 2019 and enjoy carrying it for a different look from my other handbags–although, of course, it does not hold as much as most of my other bags. To keep me organized and protect the interior of the clutch, I place loose items like lipstick, hand sanitizer, tissues, keys, etc. in smaller pouches. Doing this also helps to maintain the structure of the clutch when filled.

Hi Janis!
A perfect this to do on a hot summer day is to sit in the AC and watch your video so thank you!
LOVE the Vuitton pouch.. I do see that it came with a black accent too which would probably be better for me as I wear a lot of black.
I am going to look for it second hand.
Also I’m always a softy for wearing our mom’s jewelry.. it’s truly close to the heart.
Hope you are enjoying the summer!
Claudia
Hi, Claudia! It is so wonderful to see you here again. I did not know they made this pouch with black trim. I bet it is gorgeous! About wearing our mom’s jewelry… I so agree with you. Wishing you a wonderful summer. Hugs~ Janis
Hello Janis , thank you for your videos and content really informative . You have lovely skin , and wondering how you find the Jane Iredale make up that I see you use. Do you find it comfortable to wear and easy to use , not too powdery or drying ? It just looks so nice . Thank you for your time
Hi, Colleen! Thank you for your question. I have been liking it very much–both the compact purepressed foundation and the loose foundation. The trick with any of the powder foundations I use is to apply them lightly and build only where I have a blemish or dark spot (using a small brush to pinpoint only the troublesome spot). This way I create a natural, skin-like finish all over. I like a light coverage, rather than medium to heavy. I start with a luminous, moisturized face and always finish my makeup by spritzing my face with purified water. Then, I apply purified petroleum jelly to my damp cheekbones, where I have smile-line wrinkles. (Sometimes I apply to other areas, too, like wrinkles between eyebrows, smile lines around mouth.) I let this set for at least 15 minutes and then tap off any excess jelly with clean fingertip. This process keeps the powder foundation from looking powdery or dry. I do not put any powder or makeup under my eyes–only eyeshadow or eye pencil, occasionally, under my lower lashes. Powder under my eyes emphasizes my wrinkles. I prefer the look of luminous moisturizer under my eyes. I hope this answers your question. Thank you for visiting my blog! ~ Janis
I love your videos, would you be able to show the skincare items and how you wash your face again?
Do you use any sunscreen? Also, your favorite hats for the sun.
Thank you so much,
Pamela Hooks
Hi, Pamela! Thank you for letting me know this interests you. I have not done a skin-care video or post in years; I can’t even remember when it was. I also appreciate you letting me know you are interested in the hats I wear to keep the sun off my face. Thank you for your input. So grateful for it ~ Janis
