Matching Sets Bring Fun Into The Wardrobe

I do not know what it is about spring and summer, but this time of year makes me want to be more playful with my outfits. Bright colors is one way I have fun, and another is by wearing more prints–not just in dresses, but also in matching sets.

Matching sets are (happily) abundant this summer, and I love the idea of wearing a matching skirt and top to create the look of a dress. Then, on another day, I can wear the skirt with a white cotton tee or the top with white jeans or pants.

Clearly I am not alone in my appreciation of matching sets. The other day, a 70-something-year-old woman at Waterside Shops was dressed head to toe in a slim fitting, tan and ivory Gucci GG Supreme print top-and-pants set. Her figure was stunning and her colored hair and makeup were immaculate. I could not help admiring her.

On the whimsical side, 66-year-old “Real Housewife Sister” Kathy Hilton wore a pink, white and lavender, matching Exotic-Print Shirt and Skirt on one of this season’s The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills episodes. Take a look at the photographs above. The outfit is darling on her–especially with the pink mini bag, pink sunglasses, pink lily of the valley earrings, and pink ribbon on her hat. I hope Kathy Hilton returns again next season. She is the one personality in the Housewife franchise whose fashion I adore.

My Classic Toile Pants OOTD & 16 More Print Outfits

In this post and video, I am featuring 17 outfits with classic prints, and in a variety of price ranges. First, is my Navy and White Toile Pants OOTD. The matching shirt is sold out, but I am showing the two together to give you an idea of how a matching pants set can look. And, by the way, the pants are now on sale!

Granted, wearing a vibrant print (or any print) head to toe is not for everyone, but pairing these Pants with a White Linen Shirt is definitely a pretty and understated look. (Note: I ordered my regular size 4 in these Toile Pants, and they do run a little large on me, so I will be taking them in a bit in the waist.)

(ABOVE) I applied the Jane Iredale Eye Pencil (in the shade Black/Brown) above and below my eyelashes, and also in the crease above my eyelid. I then smudged and blended the pencil with the Smudge Brush from this Makeup Brush Kit. I set the final look with this colorless Powder (also Amazon).
