My Shirtdress Outfit
In this blog post and video, I head to Waterside Shops to have a look at the new Louis Vuitton Malletage Bandouliere Speedy 25 handbag and also to Saks Fifth Avenue to try on several ballet flats from Stuart Weitzman. Lastly, I wanted to find a perfume for summer. You will see all of them below.
My outfit is a timeless shirtdress. This one happens to be in the color khaki or tan, but there are a variety of colors available in shirtdresses this season, and I’m taking advantage of it by adding a few more to my wardrobe.
This particular style of dress is comfortable in the summer, because of the generous fit in the body and hips. Only the waist is nipped in. If you already have a shirtdress, you might want to consider picking up another one. It isn’t always easy to find such a variety of colors and prints as is available right now. Plus, you will be able to wear it for years to come and still be in style.
Scroll down the page and you will see my visit to Waterside Shops, my outfit, and the links to what I’m wearing and carrying. The video, as always, is at the bottom of the page.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog post.

(ABOVE) I thought this outfit at Louis Vuitton was quite pretty.
(ABOVE & BELOW) At Louis Vuitton, I asked if they had the new Louis Vuitton Bandouliere Malletage Speedy 25 that I had seen on line and could not stop thinking about for the past month. They checked in back and brought this one out for me to view. The outside of the bag is made of lambskin with calfskin crisscross detailing. The interior is made of sheepskin, and the bag is surprisingly light weight for its size. The detailing is lovely, and I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. However, they ordered a brand-new bag for me, because this one had a mark on the bottom. I have been carrying it constantly ever since! I like that the bag has no visible logo on its exterior, except on the top of the brass lock (attached to the zipper). This is engraved with “Louis Vuitton” in very fine print. If you would like to see preloved versions of this bag and other Speedy 25 bags, I recommend Fashionphile, a partner of Neiman Marcus. I have bought several handbags there and have been very happy with both the customer service and my purchases.
(ABOVE & BELOW) In the shoe department at Saks Fifth Avenue, I tried on several styles of ballet flats and ended up buying the Stuart Weitzman Emilia Pointed-Toe Ballet Flats in a warm-white color called Cream/Seashell (also at Saks, Nordstrom). The pointy toes make them look so feminine. The shoes I’m wearing are the Bernardo Leather Ballet Flats, in the color Luggage/Caramel.

What I Wore
Shoshana Keri Tie-Waist Cotton Shirtdress (also similar at Talbots in oatmeal and other colors; at Brooks Brothers in Paisley; at J. Crew in black or white); Gingiberi 18K Gold and Natural Diamond Earrings (discount code for 15% off site-wide at Gingiberi: Janis15); Salvatore Ferragamo Iconic Small Top-Handle Bag, Cuoio (preloved Fashionphile); Pointed-Toe Ballet Flats, RL Gold; Square-Toe Ballet Flats, Luggage/Caramel: Sunglasses (set of 2).

(ABOVE & BELOW) This is the Salvatore Ferragamo Iconic Small Top-Handle Bag in the color Cuoio (preloved Fashionphile). I’ve been searching for a cognac-leather top-handle bag with removable shoulder strap for I don’t know how many years and was thrilled when I found this one at our local Ferragamo store. I am extra careful with it so I don’t ding any corners or scratch its smooth leather. This shiny finish–along with its diminutive size, distinctly structured top-handle style, and abundant gold hardware–gives it a refined, dressy look. However, because of the crossbody strap, it can easily pair with casual outfits as well. I appreciate that kind of versatility.

(ABOVE ) I tried on about 15 floral perfumes at Saks Fifth Avenue and in the end chose this Maison Francis Kurkdjian L’Eau A La Rose Eau de Toilette (1.2-ounce size). That surprised me, because I usually prefer a perfume over a floral water, but this had more strength to it than other toilet waters I’ve tested before. All of the floral perfumes I tested were much too heavy for me, but this Eau de Toilette had a lovely and delicate fresh floral scent that was exactly what I wanted. According to the client advisor who helped me at Saks, the eau de toilettes at this fragrance house have the strength of most eau de parfums, such as the Chanel and Dior perfumes I wear. That is because Maison Francis Kurkdjian uses more oil in their eau de toilettes than other fragrance houses; this makes them more similar to perfumes.

(ABOVE) This is my hair and makeup at about 1:15 in the afternoon, after modeling my outfit in the morning, followed by lunch at Bricktops, Waterside Shops. I didn’t use as much Organic Argal Oil in my hair this time as I did in my last blog post. This gave my hair a more wispy appearance and a lighter, more matte color. (Using more oil creates a darker, glossier color.) I also used the large rollers from my Hot Rollers set (not just the medium and small sizes, which I did in my last blog post). This created a less curly look. Before putting in the Hot Rollers I applied this Hair-Styling Mousse to my dry hair and combed it through. (It is listed 2/low toxicity at EWG Build Your Own Report and listed 1/low toxicity at EWG Skin Deep.) Lastly, before rolling up each section of hair, I damped the bottom one-third with a little bit of water. I didn’t use any hairspray after taking out the rollers. I just ran a comb through my hair.

Janis, I discovered you through another site, Susanafter60. In her comment section she had referred someone to your site who was looking for warmer weather styles.
