SHOPPING FOR LUNCH AT WHOLE FOODS; MY CASUAL OOTD
Whole Foods Shopping
I had not planned to film on this day, but last minute I decided to pull out my iPhone since I was shopping for my lunch at Whole Foods, and I thought it might interest you. Typically I have a salad every day, whether I am at home or out, and this one is easy to put together. It consists of chopped romaine lettuce (half of a box), chopped organic carrots (about four), and either one can of chopped Wild Planet Sardines in Water (which I buy in a 12-pack) or an eight-ounce organic ground beef patty.
As an occasional splurge, I sometimes use one package of chopped Plainville Farms Organic Pre-Sliced Turkey Lunch Meat, which I buy at our local Publix (you can’t order it online, unfortunately). For salad dressing I use two tablespoons of Bragg Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil mixed with one tablespoon of Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, and ground Pink Himalayan Salt to taste. For dessert, it’s usually a firm banana.
On this shopping trip, I also purchased two Preserve 100% Recylced Ocean Plastic Toothbrushes for my husband and myself. Generally, I use a Preserve toothbrush in the morning and a Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Classic Toothbrush in the evening–with Jason Powersmile Whitening Fluoride-Free, SLS-Free Toothpaste, Powerful Peppermint, 6 Oz.
My Classic Preppy OOTD
As for my outfit, I’m wearing my typical classic, casual uniform–Talbots Jeggings or Talbots Ankle Jeans and an oxford cloth button-up shirt. It had been raining that morning, which is why I’m wearing skimmers/duck shoes. However, by the time I got in my car, the rain had stopped, so I was able to film my outfit.
I love oxford cloth because it’s not only soft but also durable, so it lasts for years. I’ve had this particular shirt for about 10 years. It is no longer available, but I also have this Polo Ralph Lauren Oxford Shirt in white and several different other colors. But, if you prefer not to have a logo, LLBean offers one, too.
The Longchamp crossbody bag I’m featuring in this post is about six years old and I wear it quite a lot with my dark-wash jeans or navy casual outfits. This exact one is no longer available, but if you scroll to the bottom of the page you’ll see three current Longchamp crossbody bags that are very similar. One even has a top handle, too. What’s wonderful about Longchamp is the value. Both their nylon and their all-leather bags have quality craftmanship and timeless designs, but they don’t carry the extreme price tags of other luxury French brands.
Although this post and video are brief, I hope you enjoy them. Happy beginning to the holidays!
~ Janis

Scenes From The Video
(ABOVE) Because of a chronic health issue that became overwhelming during late 2019-2022–and because I technically still have asthma–I try to keep my immune system protected by wearing a face mask at the grocery store. For fun, I often cover my KN95 Mask with a cute cotton pleated face mask. (Note To Self: When feeling lazy, do not wash a navy cotton face mask with a white towel–oh my gosh the lint!)
(ABOVE & BELOW) The organic extra virgin olive oil and apple cider vinegar I’ve used for years to make my homemade salad dressing (2 tablespoons EVOO, 1 tablespoon ACV, and Pink Himalayan Salt to taste).
(ABOVE & BELOW) In this salad (serves one), I chopped up half of a box of organic baby romaine lettuce and four washed and peeled organic carrots and tossed them with one package of chopped organic roasted, sliced turkey breast that I buy at our local Publix. For dessert I had an organic banana.
(ABOVE) I have been buying these Preserve Toothbrushes for my husband and myself for years. They are made with recycled ocean plastic. The toothpaste I buy is Jason Powersmile Whitening Fluoride-Free, SLS-Free Toothpaste, Powerful Peppermint, 6 Oz. Generally, I use this toothbrush in the morning and the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Classic Toothbrush in the evening.
What I Wore
(ABOVE & BELOW) Typically, when running errands or grocery shopping, I don’t wear makeup, only lipgloss. Here, I chose Zuzu Luxe Lipgloss in the color Cosmopolitan. By the way, I wish I always had this much color in my cheeks, but it’s only because I had been filming outside in 85-degree Fahrenheit weather for about 20 minutes.

You always look so fresh and chic! We like Plainville turkey and used to buy it at Costco but they now carry another brand. Turkey rollups are a quick snack in the evening. We stopped eating such a heavy dinner and feel better for it.
Hi Janis,
Hope you and hubby had a nice weekend! I commented on your YouTube video saying that I couldn’t find the Longchamp bag that you featured. Well, I found it clicking on your page. Yeah! It’s also on sale! I love the Navy and the tan color. Great bag! You look beautiful, refreshed and healthy. I have some health issues that I’m working on. I always say “I’m a work in progress”. Please take good care!
Until next time, love and light, Sarah
Sarah, I’m so happy you found it! And on sale–yay!! Did you click on my YouTube page link or my blog. I’m no sure to which page you are referring? I’d love to know which was the one that you found it from. I’ve started leaving links at YouTube, as well as on my blog. I know what you mean about being “a work in progress,” regarding our health. We’re always trying to heal and become healthier, because we feel better. It just makes sense. You take care, too, my friend. Love and light back ~ Janis
I’m glad you were able to find another brand you like at Costco, Donna. I wish the Plainville Farms one was available on line, because Publix is my only source. If they stop carrying it, I won’t be able to get it.
You look wonderful, and the color you picked up on your cheeks is quite attractive!
Have a wonderful, healthy holiday!
Thank you, Mtngal 🙂
Love your videos so much! keep them coming.
Beth, thank you so much! I appreciate you coming over to my blog to let me know you like them 🙂
Hi Janis!
I was thinking of you last week. My husband attended a conference in Naples. While he was in the lectures I walked around the Waterside Shops and 5th Ave.. some of your favorite haunts.
Naples is such a lovely town. We had some wonderful seafood meals, visited the Botanical Garden and took a sunset cruise from Tin City.
Thanks for posting your videos.. they are delightful!!
Happy Holidays to you and your family.
Hi, Claudia! Definitely my favorite haunts 🙂 I’m so happy for you and your hubby that you enjoyed your stay in Naples. I hope the red tide didn’t bother you too much. It’s really terrible what it’s doing to the wildlife along the beach.
Good to see you back in action. 👏🙏
Thank you, Mark. I appreciate it!☺️
