USING MY NEW REFILLABLE MAKEUP BRUSH–I NEEDED HELP
Jane Iredale Customer Service Comes To The Rescue
I have been using the Jane Iredale Loose Mineral Powder Foundation and Washable, Refillable Brush (SPF 20) for several months now and love it. However, initially I could not seem to figure out how to get the right amount of foundation into the brush so that I did not end up applying too much at once. (I like to build my foundation gradually.)
Although I could not find any detailed information at Jane Iredale on how to use the brush, I did find several comments from people who were also having difficulty using the brush. In response, the Jane Iredale team had encouraged each person to call the phone number they provided, so that a Jane Iredale associate could personally walk them through the process and answer any questions.
So, I called the phone number, and the woman who answered was so much help. I have to say, any time I have ever had questions or concerns, the customer service people at Jane Iredale have always been patient, kind, and helpful.
Using The Brush: Step By Step
- Remove the lid from the foundation vial and insert the vial into the bottom of the brush.
- Hold the brush upright.
- Remove the lid from the top of the brush,
- Twist up the brush until it locks in place.
- Turn the brush upside down.
- Shake the brush a few times.
- Swirl the brush around in the palm of your hand to disperse the product throughout the brush. At this point, there is plenty of powder in the brush to apply a light layer of foundation all over your face, neck, and chest. In fact, I was able to apply several layers without having to turn the brush upside down and shake it again. ***What I had been doing wrong was to continue to turn the brush upside down, shaking it again and again and again. Doing this was putting too much foundation into the brush–and therefore too much foundation onto my skin as well.
Using The Foundation As Concealer & My Finished Look
For places that need a bit of extra coverage–such as blemishes, redness, dark spots, etc.–I like to use one of the smaller, detail brushes from the Zoreya Makeup Brush/Sponge Set. (I always prefer to use my powder foundation as concealer.) You can either transfer some of the powder into a separate jar, or use one of the small canisters of powder that comes with the brush kit, and dip your detail brushes into this.
In the end, I have come to love this brush so much that I cannot imagine going back to using any other brush to apply a loose-powder foundation. In fact, I plan to keep my empty Jane Iredale Mineral Powder canisters, so I can use the brush with other loose-foundation powders, too. I have not tried this yet, but I am hoping that the brush will work just as well with other foundation powders. It is so much easier and less messy!
To see exactly how I used the brush and applied the rest of my makeup, too, I hope you will watch my YouTube video at the bottom of this post. All of the products I used are listed and linked below as well. (Neither my video nor my blog post were sponsored, and I purchased all of the products myself.)
Thank you so much for reading my blog post today. I hope you have a wonderful remainder of the week.

Before-And-After Makeup Application

(ABOVE) I began with well-moisturized skin (non-tinted moisturizer).

(ABOVE & BELOW) My completed makeup look.

(ABOVE) Here is my makeup about three hours after completion. As you can see, my lip gloss and face makeup are not as shiny as they looked in the photographs taken indoors, in studio lighting, earlier that day. However, my face and lips do still look luminous, which I prefer to matte. When my skin is matte, it looks drier and my wrinkles are much more emphasized.
For the step-by-step process, please watch my video at the bottom of this post.
