SHOPPING AT CHANEL;  MY OOTD;  AND WHAT’S INSIDE MY SPEEDY 30

Mixing Prints

I thought it might be helpful to show this outfit, because it demonstrates how a Louis Vuitton Damier Azur bag–or really almost any bag with a small subtle print–can work well with other prints, too, not just solids.

The Damier Azur coated-canvas print consists of a crosshatch-blue check on a warm-white background, but I do not carry it with only solid blue or white outfits.  In fact, I like to carry this bag with pastel and beige prints in particular, because the Damier Azur is such a subtle print that it can look neutral from afar.  It really is interesting how it tricks the eye.

About The Speedy 30

I bought this bag at Louis Vuitton in 2016 and love it, especially the 30 centimeter size.  That being said, if you are petite, and the 30 seems too large for your frame, the 25 is a good option.

My one complaint about this and all of Louis Vuitton’s uncoated-leather bags, however, is that the leather can show water spots and, eventually, darken over time.  For that reason I have been intending to apply Apple Garde (as I did to my monogram Speedy 30 leather), but I have not yet gotten around to it.

The day I filmed this video it began raining while I was in my car, so I waited until the rain had fully stopped before going into Waterside Shops–even though I did have an umbrella.  Because I am this careful with the bag, and also because I always put the bag back into its dust bag when I return home (so it is not exposed to too much light), it still looks brand new and the leather has not darkened or spotted.  I go into much more detail about the bag in my video, if you are interested.

Finally Finding A Chanel Mini Classic Flap

Also in this post and video, I show my try on of two lambskin flap bags at Chanel in Saks Fifth Avenue.  The first is a Chanel Mini Classic Flap, which has been on my wish list for about six years, but I have never been able to find one at a store.  On this day, as luck would have it, I was thrilled to happen upon two: one in burgundy and another in black.

The second bag I tried on was a beige lambskin Chanel Small Flap Bag.  I especially liked its CC sliding clasp, which allows you to easily adjust the shoulder strap’s length.  However, as lovely as this bag was, I ultimately bought the burgundy Mini Flap and will be showing it in two outfits in my next post and video.  (I like the mini size, because it can be worn crossbody and works as easily with jeans as it does with a little black dress.)
