New Fine Bone China; Trying a Sweet Cafe; Two Sweater Set OOTDs

Finding My China Coffee Pot

Whenever I have had friends or family to our home for brunch or dinner, I always poured the coffee from the percolator or coffee machine in the kitchen and then took the filled, china cups on saucers out to my guests in the dining room.  This method worked fine, but eventually I began to wish I had a china pot, so that I could pour the coffee from pretty serving ware while with my guests in the dining room.  I loved the experience of doing this with afternoon tea and wanted to do the same with coffee.  It just felt so much more civilized.

As for what kind of coffee pot, I had three wants that were musts: (1) A timeless-style, pure-white china pot with a floral design that would work with other white dishes.  (2) Matching cups, saucers, plates, bowls, and a teapot also available in the same pattern.  (3) A pattern that was either a new release or, at least, still being made, so that all pieces were available into the forseeable future–in case I wanted to keep collecting pieces or I accidentally broke one I already had.

During the past year and a half, I scoured a variety of shops on line, searching for that coffee pot, but without much luck.  Although I was able to find current china patterns that come with cups and saucers, and even some with teapots, finding a set that also offers a coffee pot was more difficult.  I finally came upon the Aynsley Wilton collection coffee pot last fall, and I liked it immediately.

Featuring delicate florals sprinkled on white fine bone china and trimmed with hand-painted gold detailing, Wilton is an elegant, timeless pattern, and is just what I was hoping to find.  It pairs well with gold-rimmed white bone china that I already have, and it also works beautifully with Fostoria Meadow Rose etched blown-crystal and blown glass items that were my mothers.  She gave them to me 20 or 30 years ago, and I often use pieces from this collection when serving dessert or afternoon tea. Fostoria Meadow Rose was produced from 1936 until 1975.  Second-hand pieces in excellent condition are available at Replacements, Ltd.

Aynsley’s Wilton collection not only offers a coffee pot in two color options, but also a matching tea pot in two color options, and a variety of matching plates, teacups with saucers, coffee cups with saucers, and more.  I particularly like the classic, ear-shape handles of the teacups, which have smooth lines and are easy to hold.

Introduced in June 2025,  the Wilton pattern is inspired by and named after the historic 14,000-acre Wilton House, hailed as one of the most beautiful country homes in England for more than 450 years.  Both the film The Young Victoria and the television series The Crown were filmed here.

(ABOVE) My friend CSG ordered chicken salad on ciabatta bread with fruit, a cappuccino, and a cookie.  I ordered bacon, avocado, and tomato on ciabatta bread, with two poached eggs, potato chips, and  black coffee. I wish I’d ordered the fruit, like CSG did.  It looked so much yummier–and would have been much healthier.
