Celebrating The Holidays

I love this time of year.  The holiday movies and music, the decorations all over town.  It is so cheerful and festive, I feel happy.

Here in Naples, everywhere bustles with activity as Snowbirds return and open their homes for another winter season.  Then, one by one, as Christmas Day draws near, children and grandchildren begin arriving to spend the holiday with Mom and Dad and Grandmother and Grandfather.

It is always a treat to witness two, three and sometimes even four generations of family together around town.  Pushing grocery carts at markets, dining at restaurants and private clubs, and toting shopping bags and boxes in shopping centers decorated with lighted trees, reindeer, and sleighs.

Just recently I watched as a 70ish gentleman, dressed in black pants and black sweater with white sneakers and white baseball cap walked into a Waterside Shops restaurant carrying two of the iconic large black and white Chanel shopping bags.  Following behind him were what appeared to be his children and grandchildren, several of whom also carried Chanel shopping bags.  I was so curious to know what pretties were inside!

What I Wore Lately

You will also find three outfits featured in this post and video. One is an adorable bear sweater I paired with a Louis Vuitton Monogram Speedy 30.  Another is a matching silk skirt and shirt outfit; and the third is a festive pair of blackwatch plaid pants combined with a Chanel Extra Mini Classic Flap bag.  In the video, I go into more detail about the bag and what it can fit inside.  I wore these outfits for two recent lunches out and then dinner with my husband.  You can see all three further down in this post.

New Christmas Books

(ABOVE & BELOW) I have never purchased a holiday-theme coffee table book before, but these two by the editors of Victoria magazine captured my heart.  Traditions of Christmas (August 22, 2023) brims with pages of holiday inspiration and includes a variety of recipes and entertaining, decor, and decorating ideas.  To see much more inside this gorgeous book, you might want to watch my video at the bottom of this post.

(ABOVE & BELOW) Splendor of Christmas: English, French, and American Holiday Style (September 9, 2025) explores Christmas festivities in both the U.S. and other countries. New Shoes

My Handbag

(ABOVE) I purchased this Chanel Extra-Mini Coco Handle Bag at the Nordstraom Chanel in Nashville, Tennessee, in July 2021.  Even though it is quite small, it is one of my most-loved and used handbags, because it pairs as easily with jeans as it does with dressy outfits.  It is made of Chanel’s signature caviar leather, which resists scratches more than smooth calfskin or lambskin.  This, combined with its small size, helps to maintain its original structured shape. (I am also careful not to overstuff it.)  In my video I go into much more detail and also show what fits inside (the interior is burgundy-leather lined).

 

My Makeup

(ABOVE & BELOW) I wore the same makeup products on all three days of filming for this post and video.  Each is listed below and rates well on the Environmental Working Group Skin Deep Hazard/Toxicity Scale. I used the Jane Iredale Loose Mineral Foundation and Washable, Refillable Brush throughout this post and video. However, if you prefer a compact foundation, I also use and like the Jane Iredale Mineral Foundation with Compact, Bisque.
