WHEN HAPPY THINGS HAPPEN & TIMELESS WHITE JEANS UNIFORM
A Serendipitous Occurrence at Bricktops Restaurant, Naples, FL
It was a Saturday, and my husband and I were about to walk into Bricktops Restaurant. As he opened the door for me, we noticed two ladies about to come out, so I stepped back and we waved them forward. I noticed the black Chanel quilted-leather shoulder bag that one of them carried, and I said, “I love your handbag.”
She looked at me for a moment, then produced the most enormous smile. “I’m a subscriber,” she said.
To say she made my day would not be an overstatement. My husband can attest to that fact, because I was still chattering to him about it several hours later. Naples has been such a bustling place this past season–I’ve never seen so many people and cars in our town, in fact–that I’ve become used to not bumping into those I know anymore.
Also, I had been in a bit of a slump–which is why my husband had suggested he take me to lunch. This was just the pick me up that I had needed.
She told me that her name is LoAn, that she is from Fort Myers, and that her friend Dianna was visiting from Tampa. Dianna offered to take a video of LoAn and me together with my cell phone, and posted below are several screenshots from that clip. So, I want to thank both of them for being so sweet–and LoAn for letting me know she knew me from JLJ Back To Classic. It meant so much to me. They both were just so very kind and thoughtful.
I am kicking myself now, because I was so surprised that LoAn knew me from my YouTube channel that I forgot to ask either of them about their outfits. I think LoAn’s handbag is a Chanel Wavy CC Hobo Bag (see it at Chanel or preloved)–and you will find similar Tory Burch sandals to hers at Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom.

White Jeans, Black Ruffle Top, White Sandals OOTD
This is one of my favorite “quick uniforms” that I wear all spring and summer here in Naples–a Ruffle-Neck Top, White Slim/Skinny Jeans, and Demi-Wedge Sandals. I have the top in a variety of colors and prints and the sandals in white, navy, black, and brown leather. It’s so easy for days like this when, last minute, I want to quickly put together an outfit that is casual and comfortable but also refined and cute.
On days like this I also typically don’t wear much makeup, if any. This time I applied only a lip and cheek tint (beloved) and mascara (supernova/black). Nothing more. It was just enough to brighten my face and darken my lashes, and both products are from clean cosmetic brands.

What I Wore
Inside My Handbag
(ABOVE & BELOW) If you are familiar with the Chanel Jumbo/Large Classic Flap Bag, then you know it has an extremely long shoulder strap. It is so long, in fact, that I only can wear it doubled and over my shoulder. However, when I attach two 28mm Ring Clips to the chain, I’m able to create one short chain and one long chain, allowing me to use the bag three ways: as a top-handle bag, shoulder bag, or crossbody bag. Scroll to the next several photographs to see how I attach the ring clips.
(ABOVE & BELOW) I use two 28mm Ring Clips to create a top handle and a shoulder/crossbody strap on my Chanel Jumbo Classic Flap Bag. The rings also can be used to shorten chain straps on handbags (simply place extra chain in bag).

My Hat & Minimal Clean Makeup
(ABOVE) Because I was not wearing any foundation, I wore my Sloggers Womens Wide Brim Hat that I’ve had for years. I replaced the original black chin strap with white 1/8″ nylon rope (this width of rope perfectly slips through the wooden ball that keeps the two strings together). I also sometimes use pink or navy ribbon, too. It’s fun to change the chin-strap to match my outfits.

I never retouched it, and yet I ate a meal, drank water and coffee, and blotted my mouth with a napkin numerous times. When you mention Grace Kelly, I wonder how many 20 year olds even know who she is. She and her films were my favorites as a teen; I just couldn’t relate to the the culture of the 70s.
