(ABOVE) I love t-strap flats with skirts. They’re comfortable, plus have a bit more interest than plain flats.

ABOUT MY WARM-WEATHER FALL LOOK AND…MY TEETH
All-Natural Tooth-Whitening Products
First, let me clear up something about my teeth. Several kind people on social media have said how white they are and wanted to know my secret. But, as I confessed to them, my teeth are not as white as my photographs and videos sometimes make them appear. That’s why I posted the photograph below. It more realistically portrays how my teeth look in real life.
I don’t use a teeth whitener, because I’m concerned about the ingredients causing stomach issues. However, several days a week I do brush with just baking soda after breakfast. Otherwise, I use a Tom’s of Maine or Jason fluoride-free, SLS-free, all-natural toothpaste morning and night. I have to say, I’m pretty amazed at how well this combination works, because I drink tea daily, and often have wine twice weekly.
Occasionally, I’ll brush twice a day with baking soda for a full week. The difference before and after is pretty amazing. Come to think of it, I used to do this once every month or so, but it’s been more than a year since I did that last. Definitely time for me to get back to that routine.
Nine years ago, right after my braces were removed, I tried an all-natural, brush-on whitener but, unfortunately, I don’t remember the product name. I Googled “all-natural brush-on teeth whitener” but can’t for the life of me find it anywhere on line. (I would definitely know it if I saw it.) When I do find it, I’ll include it in a future post. I loved the results, because my teeth had been very yellow before.
Lightweight, Cognac & Black Fall Look
Recently, it was in the low 60s Fahrenheit during the day, and I got to wear my cosy sweaters and black leather jacket for the first time this fall. Yay! Then, it was back into the 80s, and again I was pulling out my warm-weather fall looks, like the one I wore here for lunch at Nordstrom with my friend *CSG. (Today, it got up to 79 Fahrenheit, then it rained, and now it’s overcast and 72.)
Wild-Caught Salmon Lunch at Nordstrom Bistro
CSG and I dined at Nordstrom Cafe Bistro. (You can see their menu here.) We go there often, since it’s conveniently at Waterside Shops, and I like it in particular because they offer a wild-caught salmon salad. From what I’ve read, wild-caught salmon has much fewer toxins than other forms. (This Mercola.com article actually calls farmed salmon junk food.) I buy canned 365 Alaskan Wild Salmon for the lunch salad I prepare at home nearly every day (when I’m not using sardines).
I hope you all have a peaceful week.

Scenes From The Video
(ABOVE) At Nordstrom Cafe Bistro, my friends and I like to sit in the cozy booths (which you can see peeking out from behind a wall on the right). However, there also are four-seater tables and (BELOW) a bar.
(ABOVE) CSG ordered the Cilantro Lime Shrimp Salad and (BELOW) I had the Wild Salmon Nicoise with my own dressing (for recipe, see my post here). I carry it in a four-ounce glass bottle, which comes in a box of six. I use the others for coconut oil, to soften my skin. I keep one by the sink in the kitchen, one by our bed, and another in our bathroom.
What I Wore
(ABOVE & BELOW) My Kate Spade sunglasses are prescription glasses. As for my Hat, it’s the same style I wore in my last post–a vlog about my lunch at Village on Venetian Bay–however, this hat is a lighter color.
(ABOVE) 100% Pure Eyeliner Pencil, Blackest, which I smudged with the Eco Tools Smudge Brush from the EcoTools Six-Piece Essential Eye Set Collection. When I remember ;-), I apply a dusting of powder foundation over eye powder or eyeliner to keep them from transferring to my upper lid. It doesn’t show here, because the photo was taken that morning, but by the afternoon a little had smudged onto my upper lid, since I’d forgotten to put powder over it. Oops.
(ABOVE & BELOW) Gabriel Lipstick, Eve. On line, it is described as a “deep rose quartz/cool creme”. I found it to be a peachy pink, and in fact am wearing it with the Gabriel Apricot Powder Blush.

How interesting that you had braces in your late 40s! I am 52, and I got my braces (2nd round) put on in March.
You always look so lovely! Thank you for sharing the information about your sun hat.
Thank you, Gina. I hope you love the results. I am so happy I got them. ~ Janis
Thanks for the info, are you able to advise what brand sunglasses you are wearing
Hi, Jane. You can find that information and all details about my outfit and makeup up on the blog. Thank you for asking! ~ Janis
Hi
I love your style and makeup and skincare routine do you have a video showing how you apply your makeup I have dry skin and was wondering if the powder would be dying it seems like a lot of woman on YouTube believe in Retin a was wondering what your views were on this product thank you so much
Hi, Ann! Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my blog and ask your questions. I do have 2 posts/videos on how I apply my makeup.

As for Retin A. I used retinol for two years about nine years ago. It was in a drugstore daytime moisturizer and nighttime sunscreen. During that time, I woke up one morning unable to open my left eye. The muscle felt paralyzed. Within a few minutes the sensation went away and I was able to open my eye. Then it happened again the next morning. That scared me, and I hoped it was just that I was allergic to something. So the first thing I eliminated was my day/night moisturizers with retinol and I never had the issue again. During that two-year period, I also had another problem occur, which I never knew until later was caused by the retinol. When I waxed my upper lip, the top layer of skin was removed along with the wax. In the 20 or so years I had been waxing, I’d never had that happen before. Years later a sales rep at a beauty company told me that retin a thins the skin, so women should never wax their face if they use retina a, or they will experience what I had happen. For these reasons, I haven’t used it since. Not even a “natural” version. I’m also afraid of the longterm consequences of using it.
Hi Janis.
You look fab-u-lous!!!!
Skirts were made for you.Not sure why you were never a film star?
Loved everything. Less is more and you are the perfect example.
Your sunglasses looked stunning the frame not too large suited your face.
Thank you for all videos i adore them & cherish each one.
Enjoy evening. – Bernadine
I had Invisalign for a year at 60yrs. Best decision. Whiter brighter teeth is key to looking younger. Thank you for the tip on baking soda! Love your vlog…I often ask myself now “what would Janis do?”. 😉
Hi Janis
I absolutely love your vlogs, which are so informative, also love seeing your beautiful sunny weather. I am in the U.K. and warm weather is in short supply here. Janis, if it’s not too personal a question, as you are so beautifully slim, do you regularly work out at all?
I am also trying to live by the saying “Never complain, never explain”,
Wishing you and your husband a happy and peaceful Christmas.
Kate
Hi, Kate! Thank you 🙂 I would say my figure is a combination of diet and exercise (although I know I should probably exercise more). For details about my diet, you might want to have a look at my post Healing Chronic Health Issues: What I Eat and Why
As for exercise, I try to walk for 30 minutes 3-4 days a week, and also do leg lifts about 4 times a week. Thank you for your very kind Christmas wishes. Happy and Peaceful Christmas wishes to you and your family, too! ~ Janis
