Wednesday, June 1, 2016 / Blog Post Notes
This Land’s end polo dress is so bright it makes me smile, and I want to take a moment to talk about the color, because some version of it has cropped up in stores a lot lately. I thought it was fuchsia, but the website calls it magenta, and I wondered what’s the difference. Or is there one?
Evidently, there is.
From what I can tell by what I found on line, magenta is slightly lighter; it’s next to fuchsia on the color wheel. But given my capacity to remember anything these days, I think I’ll just start calling both of them very bright pink!
I found these Tory Burch shoes at Nordstrom Rack, and couldn’t believe how well they matched. Although they are no longer available, if you’re interested I did find some cute alternative magenta ballet flats here and here. Kate Spade has some adorable bright pink flats on sale here. The dress also is available–and it’s on sale, too.
If you’re wondering about the length of my dress, shoulder to hem, it’s 37.5 inches. Online they list it as approximately 38 inches, so it can vary slightly depending on the size. (I’m 5′ 8.5″ tall and have a very long torso. This dress is size XS.)
I hope you’ll let me know in the comments section if you end up getting this dress. I’d love to know what you think of it–and the color.

(ABOVE) The brown leather accents on this nylon Longchamp bag make it distinctive.
(ABOVE) Tying a patterned cardigan around the waist adds interest to a plain, solid dress.
(ABOVE) Since I wanted a more natural and casual look, I used only a hint of color on my lips. I achieved this by using Nourish Organic Shea Butter with a little bit of Hemp Organics/Colorganics lipsticks in Purple Haze and Ruby.
(ABOVE) Matching shoes to a dress elongates the leg. So does a neutral shoe. See more magenta ballet flats here and here.
(ABOVE AND BELOW) On my lips I’m wearing Nourish Organic Shea Butter with a very light swipe of Hemp Organics/Colorganics Purple Haze and Ruby lipsticks. On my eyelids is 100 Percent Pure’s Creamstick in Eggplant.

Great look as always and great YouTube video too. Love the magenta with the striped sweater tied around your waist. Nice contrast and perfect look for Spring/Summer. Great find at Nordstroms with the TB Eddie bow flats. I have the same magenta TB Eddie flats minus the bow. Great look thanks for sharing.
Hope you are doing well.
Brian, hi! I am well, thank you. I hope you are, too! I’m so glad to know the style name of these flats, because they didn’t come with a box at Nordstrom Rack. Thank you for visiting my blog again, and for your sweet comment! ~Janis

This is such a pretty look that I wanted to have it for myself. I would never normally choose this colour as it is so bold but it goes beautifully with the navy. I found the dress in this gorgeous magenta colour which you suit so well, as well as Caribbean green from Lands End. I have Breton pullovers and tops as well as a wide colour collection of the same Longchamps bag (also in navy) with the longer straps which I thought would compliment the green as well as magenta. Thank you so much for your inspirational blog and videos. I’m so glad I found you!
Hi, Leyla! Your Breton pullovers, I bet, look wonderful with this dress. I’m looking forward to our weather getting cooler, so I can wear pullover sweaters with it, too. Thank you so much for watching my video and for commenting. I really appreciate it! Hope you are having a great week. ~Janis
