I know we’re not “supposed to” wear voluminous tops with voluminous bottoms. And, actually, that rule is generally a good one to follow if we want an outfit to be optimally (figure) flattering.
To be honest, I don’t have a pair of slimmer-leg shorts in ecru and, looking at myself in the mirror, I thought these shorts and top looked good together. So I was surprised (disappointed?) when I saw myself in the video. It’s not that I think this outfit looks awful on me–these shorts definitely are not voluminous and I do like them. But perhaps I would have liked them even better with a slimmer top. Because, this outfit just doesn’t look as…well…sleek, I guess, is more the look for which I was aiming.
Then again, maybe it’s time to step out of my comfort zone and become okay with some looser-fit looks again. It doesn’t mean I have to repeat the baggier looks of the 90s. At least, it’s something to consider. ~Janis Lyn Johnson
