October 7, 2017 / Video Post Notes
CATCHING UP ON THE LAST MONTH, PLUS A RECENT OOTD
I can’t believe so much time has passed since my last post. It’s good to be getting back to normal.
About My Last Two Videos
In this video, I talk about some of the effects of Irma that remain today, as well as your response to my last two posts: “Personal Footage, Hurricane Irma 2017, Naples, Florida” and “How I Cope With Signs of Aging, Plus Why I Quit Sugar, Soy, Dairy, and Most Grains / Classic Healing Over 40, 50”.
Your prayers and wishes for our safety during the storm, along with your enormously kind comments and heartfelt testimonials about your own journeys with aging, illness, and healing have left me humbled and so very grateful to you all. As of today, the “Aging” video has 236,801 views, 6,567 thumbs up, and 1,462 comments. For a small YouTube channel like mine, that has been a wonderful surprise.
If you are not one who likes videos, I hope you might at least have a chance to view the comments related to aging. So many women, from their 20s to 70s, weighed in, and comments continue to this day.
Talbots Trunk Show
This past week I returned to Waterside Shops for the first time since the Thursday before the hurricane. What a relief not to see sandbags at the foot of doorways anymore! On Wednesday, Talbots hosted a Trunk Show, and I had fun with everyone else viewing their latest Fall 2017 items. In the video, I give you a peek behind the scenes.
My Sweater Set
Lastly, I wanted to show you what I wore to the show. My cardigan and shell are about five years old, but both pieces are classics that Talbots brings back every year in a variety of colors and patterns, and I’ve linked them down below. My skirt and shoes also are from several years ago, but I found very close duplicates of those.
As for my Louis Vuitton Speedy, it’s the oldest of them all and dates back to Saks Fifth Avenue, the fall of 1994. Another oldie but classic goodie still available today. Scroll down the page for my links to everything, including my makeup. (I’m wearing a new lip pencil from Zuzu Luxe.)
Hope you’re having a peaceful weekend.
~Janis Lyn Johnson
P.S. For my personal story behind this Louis Vuitton handbag, see my blog post and video here. (Hint: It all began with a designer-handbag-shaming moment.)

Hi Janis good to have you back it seems ages, your blog and video always cheers me up.Mother Nsture has been pretty angry all over the world, hurricanes, earthquakes, landslides, floods etc. I live in Wales Uk and thankfully we don’t get drastic weather extreme’s but our weather systems are all over the place, no two days are the same..
Anyway on a happier note, I love the shade of blue twin set with the black pencil skirt so timeless, under stated but so very classy, and you carry it off with quiet sophistication.
Well do be good over there in Naples, sorry to hear the Botanical Garden took a thrashing, I love watching the video posts you do when there is a particular events going on so Mother Nature had better behave herself as I look forward to viewing and reading more blogs from the Gardens
Love Pamela from Wales K xx
Thank you for your caring comments, Janis. You are so sweet. I’m glad you were safe. And those items on the Talbot’s card! I want that bag, scarf, pink blazer, pearls and black dress. Don’t they have the most beautiful things? Thank you again for an enjoyable respite!
I was vere busy this time but I check your pretty blog and videos everyday ? I love your cotton cardigan, and the color is adorable.I really love solid pastel colors and one of my best color is baby, sky blues.
This was such a wonderful and relaxing video.I adore your vlogs.Loved learning about your beautiful life/city.
Have you ever check Smita Malhotra page? She said : “ We can’t always choose the cards we have been dealt, but we can learn to play them. Like a flower that grows through a crack in the concrete, sometimes we have to make the best of our situations and bloom where we have been planted.
You may not be where you want to be in life just yet. You may be working a day job that is not your passion and working on your dream through the night.
Keeping our dreams alive is what uplifts the human spirit. But how can we deal with the fact that sometimes we may have to tolerate something that we do not like to eventually get to where we want to be?
Not everyone can quit their jobs and follow a dream. Sometimes our dreams take time. So instead of getting bitter and upset at your situation, why not try blooming where you have been planted?
Every step in life prepares you for the next one
You may not realize it, but where you are now is providing you with vital life lessons for your next adventure.”. Why I loved the word “Bloom Where You Are Planted”. ?
Myheartfelt best.Greetings from Turkey sweet Janis?X
