Dressing Up a Dress With Statement Earrings, High Heels, and a Metallic Bag
I don’t often wear dresses, mostly because I’m difficult to fit due to my long torso and height. Lately, though, I’ve been lucky to find some pretty ones that work for me. If you saw my Gretchen Scott blog/vlog, you’ll remember I discovered several cute dresses with four-inch hems. This dress is one of them! I let it out three and one-half inches and am so happy with it. The material doesn’t seem to wrinkle too much and is light weight, so it packs beautifully.
The great thing about dresses like this, which are classic and simple, is that you can style them to be dressy or casual. This one even has a ruffle you can play with to make your neckline demure or daring and plunging. I’ve styled mine somewhere in between, but I also love it plunging (I don’t have much to show!).
I chose to go dressy with blingy Talbots statement earrings (which are currently on sale), a gold Salvatore Ferragamo bag, and four-inch heels (see navy three and a half-inch heels here). But it would look adorable with flat sandals and a straw bag, too. It’s so versatile.
By the way, I can’t believe it’s already September. Oh my goodness, where did summer go!?

(ABOVE) This hammered gold bracelet was a gift from my mother years ago. It’s from the 1970s, I think. See a similar looking one at Ross-Simons. Similar Michele watch also at Ross-Simons.
(ABOVE) I don’t wear high heels often, but I do love them for dressing up! These have a four-inch heel and are about 10 or so years old, but see a navy slingback with a three and one-half-inch heel here. I absolutely love these kitten-heel slingbacks from Tommy Hilfiger.
(ABOVE) The ruffle on this dress can be styled to make the neckline more plunging or less. I have it in between.
(ABOVE) I inherited this pearl ring (right hand on hip) from my maternal grandmother many years ago. It’s such a classic. See similar rings at Ross-Simons and David Yurman.

Absolutely fantastic outfit. You look like a million dollars. I’ve got a major case of shoe envy.
Very pretty. I didn’t realize you were that tall. I have the same issue with some skirts or dresses.
GREAT dress!! You look fantastic in everything!!
Stunning look! Love the neckline on you & great accessories. Happy Labor Day weekend! Laura
Thank you so much, Laura W. The earrings are so much fun! I hope you’re having a beautiful week. Cheers! ~Janis
