July 5, 2017 / Video Post Notes
Color, Color, and More Color
Until I watched my video, I didn’t realize how much color was in my round-up for this month’s Favorites post. From navy stripes and vibrant pink to kelly green and orange, it’s truly a preppy lover’s collection. But, for those of you who like more subdued tones–I love those as well–there are lovely off-white pieces here, too, including the top I’m wearing.
Oh, and before I forget, there is a fascinating story behind the Jack Rogers and Stephen Bonanno Palm Beach sandals I show in this video, which also links back directly to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Scroll to the bottom of the page for the video. The story is so interesting and explains why the confusion about which company is the maker of the original “Palm Beach Sandal”.

P.S. From now on my monthly Favorites posts will appear in either the month they are named for–or just afterwards (as with this month and last month). That allows me some needed flexibility!
I forgot to mention the top I’m wearing in my video, so I’m bringing it up here, because I love sheer tops. I also found another one I like by Bobeau at Nordstrom. It has the same soft, pretty look–and with the added benefit of three-quarter length sleeves. Both are so delicate and feminine, which I think is flattering to all women.
With the Ann Taylor top I feel comfortable wearing a nude bra close to the color of my skin. The shirt is loose fitting and falls away from the body, so you only slightly see an outline of just the top of the bra (and I mean slightly), and that doesn’t bother me. If you’re not comfortable with that, a nude or off-white camisole would work well, too. That’s how they show the Bobeau top, below. I love either of these tops with both refined outfits and also very casual jeans. They’re so girly.
I love the adjustability of this bracelet, and the delicate look of it. Also nice, the bar is curved slightly to fit the wrist. Beautiful stacked with other bracelets, worn alone, or with a watch, like I show here. I think this is my favorite way to wear it!
STERLING SILVER TENNIS, OVAL LINK & HEMATITE BRACELETS
I love this particular stack of bracelets with refined casual outfits, like the white sweater-wrap and pants ensemble shown later in this blog post. I also think they all look pretty with my stainless steel Michele Watch (at Nordstrom), seen later in this post.

I’ve had these round-frame prescription glasses with clip-on sunglasses for ages and absolutely love them. They’re in my favorites this month, because I’m seeing very similar versions in sunglasses made to look like glasses with clip-ons.
What I find so appealing is the round frames combined with a mixture of gold or silver wire and brown tortoise. It’s such a flattering look for the face.

(ABOVE & BELOW) Talbots Scalloped Skirt, available in 4 colors.
I first ordered this skirt in the orange color (see me wearing it here), and I liked it so much I ordered the khaki one, too. It’s such a fun, cute casual skirt! ( I am 5′ 8 1/2″ tall, so it’s a bit shorter on me.) Keep scrolling to see my khaki skirt and green sweater outfit.
GREEN ANCHOR SWEATER
Even though it’s in the 90s Fahrenheit here, I still wear sweaters. Whether it’s a cardigan or pullover, I tie it around my shoulders (or stash it in a tote) while I’m outside, and then put it on when I’m in a (freezing) office, restaurant, movie theater, or grocery store. I fell for the color of this sweater initially, and the rhinestone anchors completely won me over. I can’t get enough of this sweater!
I like longer polo shirts, because they give me the choice of wearing them out (ABOVE) or tucked in (BELOW).
NAVY & IVORY TOTE
This tote is all leather, was originally $270, and it’s on sale for under $130. It has a snap-closure top, so it isn’t completely open, and I love how roomy it is! It’s perfect for my bag organizer, which I can quickly pop in and out of all of my bags. (My organizer is available in 21 colors and houses all the necessities I want to keep with me.)
(BELOW) Bag Organizer, available in 21 different colors.
(ABOVE) My new leather Jack Rogers Monogrammed Sandals (similar, without monogram, here) and (BELOW) my monogrammed leather Stephen Bonanno Palm Beach Sandal Company sandals, which are about 10-plus years old. (Similar, no Initials Nordstrom, Palm Beach Sandal; alternative navy sandals Talbots).
I wear my monogram sandals all spring and summer here in Florida. They’re so iconic and classic, and for me, synonymous with summer. They’re cute with casual pants, shorts, skirts, and dresses. Can’t wait to wear my new pink pair, too!
To learn about the fascinating history of this shoe, why two different brands began producing it in the 1960s (and caused a bit of confusion to many because of it) and, most important, it’s direct connection to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, scroll to the bottom of the page for my video.

Whether you call it a sweater wrap or poncho, this is another iconic piece that has become a classic. I like to wear wraps or ponchos like this with pants that fit slimly around the hips, to balance out the proportions. I’ve seen women wear it with short shorts, too, and that looks adorable. I wish I had the legs for it!
(ABOVE & BELOW) Lilly Pulitzer Sweater Wrap (also Zappos; more Wraps Nordstrom), Similar Pants (more Nordstrom), Judith Ripka Princess Cut Tennis Bracelet, Textured Oval Link Bracelet, and JAI John Hardy Hematite Bracelet. (BELOW) Trotters Wedge Sandals.
LIPSTICK & MAKEUP
(ABOVE & BELOW) 100% Pure Primrose Lipstick,.
This line of lipsticks by 100% Pure is wonderful if you like the moisturizing properties of a lipstick combined with the staying power of a stain. I’ve been wearing this color, Primrose, since I discovered it last summer. I think it looks so pretty when you want a vibrant, fun pop of bright color. Really wonderful with a little black dress!
(ALSO) Nourish Organic Shea Butter Lip and Eye Area Moisturizer, Zuzu Gluten-Free Dual Powder Foundation D-7 and D-24 applied with BareMinerals Flawless Application Face Brush (also available here), Gabriel Vibrant Pink Powder Blush, 100% Pure Fig Eyeshadow (smudged at lash line), 100% Pure Ultra-Lengthening Mascara, Black Tea.
