Quickly Changing Up a Look

If there is a theme to this (late, yipes!)) May 2017 Favorites post, it has to be jewelry and tops. For me, they’re probably my favorite items to purchase, because they quickly make different outfits.

Stacks of bracelets and bold statement earrings and necklaces are great for creating  interesting, fun accents. Plus, various takes on a summer top, like the three I show here, add up to completely new looks, even when worn with the same bottom.

From two classic lip colors and an eye color to three new tops and a bottom and more, I hope you enjoy my roundup.

STRIPED & DANGLE EARRINGS

I fell for the black and white stripes. Love them as an accent to any solid-color top.

These are so fun! Because they’re large, I let them be the star and don’t wear a necklace with them. They’re heavier than some earrings, but I don’t mind, because the post and supportive-disc back keeps them firmly against my ears (and they don’t elongate my piercings).

CABACHON NECKLACE

This necklace works beautifully with a refined outfit, but I also love dressing it down, with jeans and a white tee or, in winter, a crewneck pullover and white button-down shirt. Because it’s a statement necklace, I wear small earrings with it (definitely not these dangle earrings!).

I found this top at Marshall’s and love how feminine it is. It’s another great option to a plain white tee. It’s just as cool and comfy but has so much more detail.

I love that this skirt comes with a matching belt and has a mid-knee length. Also, it can be hand washed or dry cleaned–either one–and the color is gorgeous!

LINEN SPLIT-NECK TOP

This linen shirt is so cool and comfortable in hot weather, and the button-tab sleeves add interest. Because of the softly rounded hem, it looks nice worn out as well as tucked in. I like to tuck the front inside jeans and to let the back hang out. With a skirt, I prefer it tucked in. As you can see, it does wrinkle, but that’s part of linen’s natural charm.

For my lip color, I combined the two Hemp Organics lipsticks. To give my eyes an understated smokey look, I rimmed them above and below with the Gabriel eye shadow–just at the lash line–and then smudged it with a clean eye shadow brush.
