Black, White, and Camel For Fall
This outfit doesn’t look like something you’d typically wear the week of Thanksgiving. But here in Southwest Florida, fall and winter is not like up north.
The last few days brought temperatures topping out in the lower 70s, but the week before last it was still hot. (Plus, it was in the low 80s today and is supposed to continue the rest of the week.) The result is, I’ve been bouncing back and forth from thick cotton sweaters, button-ups, and pants to short-sleeve tees with shorts and skirts.
What I’d Add For Cold Weather
I wore this embroidered white top and black pencil skirt on a day it was still hot and humid. If it had been colder, I’d have worn a long-sleeve white shirt, a wool camel cardigan, and either nude or black stockings.
Change My Accessories For a Resort Feel
If it was spring or summer–or I wanted a “resort” look for holiday travel–I’d switch out the tortoise earrings, leopard crossbody, and black pointy-toe penny loafers for white, pearl or gold dangle earrings, a bag that was wicker, blush, fuchsia or gold metallic, and sandals that were black or gold metallic. I’d also wear an all-black belt.
Of course, I love pastel and bright colors too much to give them up for a whole season, so I don’t always wear earth-tone colors this time of year. But it’s fun to wear black, brown, beige, and camel together occasionally, and fall/winter always feels like a good time for it in Florida.
Whatever your temperatures and wherever you are, I hope you all have a beautiful end of the week and weekend; and to those of you who celebrate it, happy, happy Thanksgiving!

Love your style and fashion ideas for Florida weather. I live in central Florida and find it difficult this time of year when all the fashion magazines feature “cold” weather outfits. Thank you for addressing what some northerners don’t understand.
