How I Keep A Poncho From Being Over Powering
I love coral and turquoise with white, and I’ve been eager to wear this outfit, ever since finding the poncho at Marshall’s last spring. It has five percent wool in it, so I picked a day that I knew I’d be inside in air-conditioning–spending very little time outside–and it worked out well.
As lovely as they are, I think ponchos can sometimes be overpowering. So my favorite way to style them is with skinny jeans and boots. That way the voluminous top is balanced out with a long, lean look on the bottom.
I wanted to do a more summery look here, since it’s July, so instead of boots to elongate my legs I wore sandals that matched my jeans. My legs still don’t look as long as they would in boots or high-heel sandals, but I needed to be able to do a lot of walking, so flats worked better for me.
Nothing can replace my affection for a classic cardigan, but for a change I think this was a fun option.
