(ABOVE) Love the wind lanyard on this sun hat. As soon as I’m indoors, I take the hat off and hang it around my neck, so I don’t lose it. So convenient.

Saturday, July 9, 2016 / Vlog Post Notes
Jane’s Garden Cafe in Old Naples is one of my favorite outdoor cafes. She offers a wonderful organic spring greens salad that I always order with chicken, and diners have a choice of sittng indoors (in air-conditioning), or on one of two patios. The north patio is under cover, and the south patio is shaded by pretty tables with umbrellas around a pond filled with brightly colored koi and lily pads. This patio is my favorite spot; I love the sound of the bubbling water and chirping birds. Even with the heat, my friend Gail and I decided to dine there.
Before lunch, I decided to stop by Tommy Bahama, which is across the street, and have a look around. I haven’t been there in quite some time. Since it was going to be a scorching 90 degrees Fahrenheit and I planned to do some walking, I wore a cool, comfy cotton t-shirt dress from J. McLaughlin and flat leather sandals from Jack Rogers. Plus, of course, I wore my wide-brim hat!
Hope you like the video; Gail and I enjoyed our afternoon, even though it was very hot!

Scenes From The Video
(ABOVE) Tommy Bahama, on Third Street South. Don’t you love all the lush plantings?
(ABOVE) Tommy Bahama Glitter Moon Linen Top and Skinny Jeans. The sequins, beading, and embroidery on this top are lovely!
(ABOVE) Tommy Bahama Paradise Poppies Dress. I loved, loved, loved the comfortable yet slim fit of this dress and the wrinkle-resistant/travel material; but the print was just a bit too large and bold for me.
(ABOVE & BELOW) Tommy Bahama Two Palms Linen Raw-Edge Jacket (comes in four colors), Sadie Jersey Metallic Trim T-Shirt (comes in four colors), and Oo La La Leaf Skirt. My sandals are by Jack Rogers.
(ABOVE) I believe it’s a typographical error, but according to Tommy Bahama on line, the name of this dress is Gardenia Blooms Silk Tie Dress. The flowers I see are hibiscus blooms. Maybe by the time this publishes, the error will have been fixed–or, I am just not able to see the gardenias in this or the photograph on line. Either way, it’s a very pretty, feminine, and flowy dress!
(ABOVE) The southern, fountain patio at Jane’s Garden Cafe. So charming, and they serve breakfast all day long. How great is that?
(ABOVE) I met my friend Gail in 1989. Can’t believe it’s 27 years ago!

What I Wore
(ABOVE & BELOW) I get so many comments and compliments on these Jack Rogers sandals, monogramed with my initials. I’ve had them for about 10 years and love them.
(ABOVE & BELOW): On my lips: 100 Percent Pure lipsticks in the colors Calendula, left, and Hibiscus, right.
(ABOVE) The Kate Spade prescription eyeglasses and wide-rim hat with wind lanyard I’m wearing in this video. (I ordered two pairs of the glasses; had one pair made into regular eyeglasses and the other into the sunglasses.) (BELOW) Get a look similar to the one I’m wearing. On a smart phone? Love Tommy Bahama’s Naples set up. Always find something there for my husband & a good meal. ?
It is a really neat set up, isn’t it? Its fun taking visitors there because it’s so tropical. Thank you for taking time out of your day to visit my blog, Lisa! ~Janis
I love your fresh and classic style! It’s wonderful to find someone who uses organic beauty products. Your hair looks great…I stopped coloring mine several years ago and started letting it grow.
How great to meet another woman who is letting her hair grow and also not coloring anymore. It was challenging at first, but I am really happy I did it. I hope you will let me know how it’s going for you. Thank you so much for your compliment and for taking the time to visit my blog, Donna. Cheers ~Janis
Hello,
I wanted to tell you I’m enjoying your blog and videos. I’m a fellow immune challenged person and am glad to read how you are eating to change your health.
I’m finding inspiration in your blog and videos. Thank you.
I am so sorry you have immune system challenges, Lisa. When our bodies don’t work right and make us feel sick constantly, it is so debilitating and depressing. It’s wonderful to know that by changing our diet we can take some control back and get healthier. It sometimes takes a while, but I’m here to tell you it works if you keep at it, Lisa. I still have some more healing to do after four years and a month but so much has changed for the better that I am definitely motivated to stick with it myself. Thank you so much for visiting my blog. Peace, joy, and healing to you! ~Janis

Thank you, Rose. This dress IS super comfy. Because it’s cotton it also keeps me cool. Yes, my shoes have my monogram.:-) I love monograms! Tommy Bahama does have both a cafe and a shop for women and shop for men, all next to each other. We opted to eat at a different restaurant, though. It’s across the street and called “Janes’ Garden Cafe”. I’m sorry I didn’t make it clear enough where the links are. (For the hat, etc.) They are always under the very first photo on a blog post — at the top of the page. Here is the hat link:http://amzn.to/29ph0sn Thank you for visiting my blog again!!!! ~Janis

I’m so glad you liked the places I visited, Marie! Thank you for much for visiting my blog and for commenting, too. ~Janis
I love your style! It is similar to mine, classic, yet fun and comfortable. I want to hear more about your healthful eating. I recently went to a plant based diet and have lost 25 pounds, 20 more to go, but don’t always feel as energetic as I would like. I will keep at it, though. Thank you very much for sharing your lifestyle. I love the same type of houses as you, too. Keep them coming!
Thank you, Jo. You’ve probably already seen this post on what I eat and why, but in case you haven’t, here is the link: https://jljbacktoclassic.com/archives/559 I’ve found that I have to keep researching and reading and tweaking my diet to fit my particular health issues. I seem to be super sensitive to things that many people aren’t. It can sometimes get frustrating, if you are not seeing results/healing as quickly as you like–believe me, I feel the same way–but I’m glad you are not giving up (Neither am I!). If you feel low energy, maybe you need more protein in your diet? Whatever it is, you might be lacking something in your diet. You might google “on a plant-based diet but low in energy” and see what you get? Sending you healing and happy wishes. Thank you so much for taking the time to visit here and comment. ~Janis
