For dinner out with my husband, I decided to have some fun with my outfit.

I started with silk trousers, a cotton blouse, and a light camel, twill jacket.  This one is a take on a motorcycle–or moto–jacket.  For a bit of history, the motorcycle jacket was designed in 1928 by Irving Schott and sold at the New York Harley Davidson store for $5.50.

We’re used to seeing motos in black leather, of course–think Marlon Brando, James Dean.  The style typically adds a “tough chic” modern attitude to outfits.  Mine is of a lighter, drapey fabric, so the effect is soft and feminine.

To finish the outfit, I chose two faux-pearl necklaces.  Either would have been great on its own; I used both.  As Coco Chanel once said, “A woman needs ropes and ropes of pearls.”  (I know.  I know.  She also said remove one item before you walk out the door.)

Finally, to keep my look more casual and fun, I wore the shirt tail out.  With this many pearls, who can be serious! ~Janis Lyn Johnson
