How To Make A Beige Outfit Interesting: Think, Sassy!
One of my favorite ways to brighten a beige or tan top or bottom is to pair it with solid white. White makes anything pop; and with beige, it also creates a softly transitioning column of color that gives a flattering, elongating effect.
These relaxed-fit white jeans and t-shirt also serve as a non-competing, plain backdrop so that the subtle texture of the beige sweater is highlighted.
Of course, from afar, you can’t see that texture. So it’s nice to have a statement bag, which gives additional interest to the outfit. This Louis Vuitton Damier Azur pattern is larger than that of the sweater’s weave, so it stands out, but the pattern’s size and color are also subtle enough that the bag doesn’t compete or overshadow the sweater. That’s one reason why I love the Louis Vuitton Damier line of bags. They go with almost anything.
My favorite part of this outfit is the blingy tortoise earrings. They’re light brown, so they’re in the beige family. But with the large crystals, I think they turn what would otherwise be a nice outfit into something fun and sassy. I love sassy!

Love this combination Janis…very smart and Summery too, the colours blend wonderfully ! Linda
I love how white pants make beige POP. It is one of my favorite looks. Although I like your look better. I never thought to put a white tee-shirt under a see through top. But I will try it.
Hi, Sandy and thank you! Hope you have a beautiful day — and Happy Fourth of July up there! ~Janis
Watching the videos and reading your blog fun! You are such an inspiration!! Living in Florida myself I am so happy to have found your blog. Dressing in the south is such a challenge for me. It has taken me awhile to find my own style and be comfortable. Abandoning my Eastern Basic Black Mindset has been challenging and life changing! I am a work in progress. I loved your comment about color and how you have embraced it in your wardrobe and the effect it has had on your attitude. I find that so true. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and ideas. You make a positive difference in the way I view myself.
Hi, Michel! I know what you mean about dressing differently here than up north. It is an adjustment. I’ve been here since 1984, and it’s taken me awhile, too, to find what works for me. I’m so glad you’re having fun with it and looking at yourself as a work in progress, so you don’t get stressed out! That’s so much more healthy, too. Thank you for saying I have helped inspire you to have a positive attitude about yourself. I am truly honored. That’s such a sweet thing to say. 🙂 Thank you. ~Janis
Love the earrings with this OOTD! They add the edge to your monochromatic outfit. Your use of accessories and pretty color combinations always take classic clothing up a notch. Enjoy your blog so much !
Thank you so much, Missy! I absolutely fell in love with them when I saw them but was worried they’d be heavy and they aren’t. That’s been my biggest challenge–weight–when looking for big statement earrings. It’s so great when they are made to look weighty but aren’t. Thank you so much for your sweet comment 🙂 ~Janis
I am soooo happy to have found your blog and videos. Since I am also a 50 plus transplant to Florida (from New York) I have found looking age appropriate and fashionable in 90 degree weather challenging. You have helped me realize black isn’t the only color that looks elegant, flats can look sexy, hats aren’t only for the beach, and glowing from inside makes all the difference. Thank you for your inspiration.
Oh my gosh, thank you, Mazzie! I’m so happy you found inspiration here. That makes me happy! I appreciate you taking the time to leave your comment! ~Janis
Hello! I just discovered your blog and I enjoy all the photos and fashion advice……however…
How do I easily find the most current entry? I have found on other blogs to click on “home page”
Do I need to go to archives every time?
Hi, Rebecca! Thank you so much for your great question. The most current post will always be the first photo that pops up on the slider on my Welcome Page (that’s my Home page). It’s the first dot on the left, directly under the photo slider. The second dot is the next most current, etc. I appreciate you taking the time to visit and post your comment! ~Janis (P.S. I’ll make a note of it under the slider to help others, too. Thank you for letting me know it wasn’t clear enough!)
I just found your blog recently. I love your style. I am even older than you but am very interested in fashion and try to look good.
Hi, Sharon! I’m so glad you found me–and thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to visit my blog and to comment. 🙂 ~Janis
I found your blog through Susan from Fifty not Frumpy – your outfits are really inspiring. Just as I like them, simple and though “spicy”. 🙂
Thank you
