SHORT-SKIRT UNIFORM / WHITE AFTER LABOR DAY?
White Denim Skirt, Ruffle Top, White Demi-Heel Sandals, Fendi Mini Peekaboo Bag
The weather in Naples, Florida, is continuing to be quite warm–usually in the 90s and very humid–so I am still wearing my short skirts for casual days running errands or eating lunch out with a girlfriend or my hubby. That means I am continuing to turn to my “Short Skirt Uniform”, an outfit formula combining a refined short skirt (no distressing or unfinished hems), refined top, sweater, and either flats or kitten heels. Here, I chose a Ruffle Top (on sale, newest additions), Denim Skirt (similar 22.5” denim skirt here, 21” skort here), White Cableknit Sweater (scroll down the page for several similar to mine), and demi-heel sandals. As with my other uniforms, each item is timeless, so it can easily be mixed and matched with other classic items in my closet.
I’ve had my White Leather Demi-Heel Sandals for several years and wear them spring through summer and into the fall here in Florida. I love a white kitten-heel sandal! These are slightly padded and are so comfortable that I can wear them for walking a good bit of distance. The heel is just high enough to elongate and flatter the leg.

(ABOVE & BELOW) I’ve had these Kate Spade Sunglasses for about 10 years–in both prescription sunglasses and regular prescription glasses. They are so timeless (and popular) that Kate Spade brings them back every year. About my 14K Gold Earrings: they are 4mm thick and 20mm in diameter and are so comfortable. I think they are the perfect size. The David Yurman 18k Gold Pave Diamond 14mm Chatelaine Ring (peeking out at the top of my handbag photograph below) was a birthday gift from my husband two years ago. On my left hand, I am wearing the Boucheron Quatre Large, 18K Gold and Diamond Ring, also given to me by my hubby (as an eternity band ring). My Handbag and What’s Inside
(ABOVE) I bought this Fendi Peekaboo Mini White Selleria Bag in January. To see me carrying it last spring, visit my March 2023 blog post. I had been eyeing it on line for about two years before I saw it in person at our local Saks last January. Holding it for the first time, I fell instantly in love. However, I still didn’t want to make an impulsive decision, so I went home and thought about it for a few hours. A few minutes before the store closed I called Janet, my sales associate at Fendi-Saks, and bought the bag. I love it because it’s distinctly casual and yet I feel I still can wear it with a pretty dress and delicate sandals–or with a light color sweater or puffer coat or puffer vest in the winter. If you are interested in this bag but don’t wish to pay the retail price, I recommend having a look at the Preloved Peekaboos at Fashionphile, which is a partner of Neiman Marcus. (ABOVE) As I’ve mentioned before, I like to use zip key pouches for small cosmetic items when I am not using them for keys. They also are perfect for carrying credit cards and cash. Here, I chose to use a Blue-and-White Check Key Pouch (at Walmart or Amazon) for my Lipstick (Sheer Rose), a 10 ML Glass Hand Sanitizer/Perfume Spray Bottle, and several small cosmetics jars. These Mini BPA-Free Cosmetic Jars (set of 25, $6.99) work well for containing hand cream and Triple Purified, 100% Pure Petroleum Jelly, and are perfectly sized for small pouches.

Happy almost fall.. it’s still hot up here in NY. I just bought another skirt from Talbots for the “uniform.” It’s a very pretty dark print with brown and navy. Great for this time of year.
I chuckled at your video about us northerners wearing summer clothes if we visit FL in the winter. Years ago in January we visited a cousin who lived in FL and even though it was probably 60 degrees out I was wearing a sleeveless cotton short dress and she was wearing a wool sweater, jeans and boots. You could tell in a moment who was local and who was the visitor. 🙂
