Since I am still in a gorgeous-garden afterglow from attending the annual Hats In The Garden at Naples Botanical Garden last week, I thought I would continue on the topic of beautiful gardens in this post.
Celebrated designer and gardener Carolyne Roehm, who also happens to be a past presenter at Hats In The Garden (along with Carlton Varney, Oscar de la Renta, and Michael Kors), has a new coffee table book–and is featured in a new video.
The Book
At Home In The Garden, Roehm’s 12th book, explores the grounds of her historic Connecticut estate, Weatherstone. According to publisher Penguin Random house, the book showcases how Roehm entertains guests in the estate’s gardens (the floral arrangements she makes, the table settings she uses), how she chooses the gardens’ plants and layouts; and how the gardens have inspired her vibrant floral watercolor paintings.
The Video
Weatherstone’s gardens also are featured in a video by Quintessence editor Stacey Bewkes (see above). In it, Roehm takes guest and video co-creator Susanna Salk on a personal tour of the grounds and also shows some of her watercolor paintings. (The artwork is so lovely, I was amazed to learn that it is only a very recent hobby.) Truly an enjoyable video. ~Janis Lyn Johnson

I have Roehm’s four “season” books and just love leafing through them. SUCH good taste she has, and everything so beautifully presented! Thanks for sharing!
She does have beautiful taste, doesn’t she? And I cannot believe she only just learned to paint watercolors. I’m in awe. Thanks, Catherine, for commenting!
