Two favorite outfits I like to wear in the summer are cropped jeans with an oxford-cloth shirt and shorts or a skort with a polo or t-shirt. (This is a skort outfit I wore recently.)

But sometimes I want to wear a shorts outfit that feels more girly and a little dressier. What I did here was begin with the same shorts I’d have worn if going for a more casual, androgynous look, but I added a a brighter lip color; a very feminine, linen-eyelet top; and a fun and blingy necklace–this one has a beach theme. Because the necklace is so showy, I kept the rest of my jewelry minimal and chose a light-color neutral bag and shoes.

Th result is cool and comfortable in the summer heat, and I think it also looks girly and polished.
